I remember this ride from the times I traveled with either my family to fish on nearby Table Rock Lake or with my church youth group. It scared me because of being trapped underground with all the flooding. The mannequins were also scary. I seem to remember more animation from the mannequins, though. I want to go back and relive some of my childhood someday. It’s on the bucket list.

normally you have a boat full of people shooting those laser guns at the targets and setting off animations. a quiet solo ride through like this isn't typical. (you can here the noises of another boat of people using the guns in the background, that "chirp-twing" noise)

My family went to Silver Dollar City back in December and I can say with absolute certainty that this ride is in a BAD state of disrepair. We also rode Fire in the Hole for the last time without even knowing it. I have heard a rumor that it’s gonna get a whole new building. If this ride ever closes, I hope it gets a new building too

When I was a kid (born I 1980 so mid to early 90's) my grandparents would take me here a few times every summer and this and Fire in the Hole we're my two faves. I'd ride em over and over again. I've always loved history so a theme park where the setting is in the past was sooooo much fun for me. I was a lucky kid to get to go as much as I did. My grandparents were the best.

I remember this ride when it was all automated and the animatronics would go off as the boats passed by. I seem to recall several of the mannequins originally were made to resemble famous people. I remember the duo at the runaway buzz saw originally resembled Loral and Hardy, and I seem to remember a Charlie Chaplin prisoner somewhere in there among some other famous celebrities. I still remember the celebrity prisoners even after they converted it to what used to be called "The Great Shootout" (I think it's called that but most have reverted to calling it "The Flooded Mine".

I went there with my family over 50 years ago (!). I really enjoyed that ride; but my recollection is that it didn't have the targets then, and the ride ended with a massive explosion (noise and flashing light). Perhaps they took that out 'coz modern kids are too easily traumatized?

Are you sure that you're not thinking of Fire in the Hole? That one is pretty similar, and has an explosion at the end.
@davidstone1293
3 жыл бұрын
Many years ago, this ride has had a few endings, including the explosion. It also had a “flooding” room where a large wall of water came down a slope towards the boats, but drained away in a hidden drain at the last moment. There was also a cave-in effect for a while in the tall tower area (where the prisoners are now climbing out using ropes). I remember the cave-in was cool, but it slowed down the ride as boats would stop in the tower area, sitting in the dark while an audio audio warned you of the possibility of a cave in, followed by the loud roar as foam rocks fell straight towards you overhead, illuminated by strobe lights. They were caught in a net. Unfortunately there were lengthy delays while the rocks reset (collected and lifted back to the top by belts) so o don’t think this effect was used very long.

I remember this ride so much! I went every year from 89-98. Wasn't there a part where one of the mine cars was coming at you? I also remember the big saw blade area going dark and then it looked like was coming at you too. I also remember the falling rocks and a big water spray at the end. This was definitely a trip down memory lane!

The falling rocks aren't in the ride anymore. Also the saw blade is still there but now the area lights up when it comes at you. I also think that when the tnt explosion happens is when the mine cart comes at you. Do you know why the falling to ks were taken out? I also don't think the water spray is there at the end but there is a water spray close to the end.
