What is mom so worried about the courts getting involved over? He owes back child support, that shit would instantly lose him any play he tries to make.

They probably made a custody agreement during the divorce and since she hasn’t been going over to her dads as often the past couple years, the dad could argue that he hasn’t paid child support because the mom “refused” to let him see his daughter even if it was the daughters choice to stop seeing him as often
@A-Lore6000

@@abbypotato8165 she's 15. The court will allow her to decide who she can stay with and they will hear her out about the neglect from bio dad. This argument alone can double the child support and let the mom have full custody. The only way for him in this case to escape paying hefty amount of child support is if he gave up his parental rights.

NTA, OPs biological is someone who wants kids but not teenage it's likely the other teenager is facing the same problem. Unfortunately, and sadly 3 years are left in their relationship OP will likely just have to bare it till then with zero improvement from biological. I doubt the biological will understand that when OP doesn't come over anymore. OPs use of child support in story may mean OPs starting to see that outside visits he is absent. High school counselor is a maybe for an outlet but likely can't do much other than recommend a possible counselor or report the biological for missing support, which by the sounds of it will do nothing but aggregate the what's left on until OP reaches 18. Good luck if you read this.

Deserves love and respect. Eric only deserves her love if he gives love to her too and he hasn't. She should take pictures of how she lives there and show her mom. Even if someone is your parent don't give them automatic respect if they have done everything to lose it. And OP mother needs to be more supportive of things. And who cares if her being adopted by her stepdad is a slap to the face for Eric. That guy hasn't acted like a father and maybe losing something would probably make him wake up and if not then he can just keep being an idiot. And talking to a therapist would help. Maybe the mother should see one too.

So something i found alittle off about the story is the slight obsession with the child support coming from the op (who is a child at the moment). Its one thing if your mother wasnt able to support her and you but it doesnt sound like or it wasnt elaborated on that the mom and step father was going threw hard to times or struggling to make ends meet. It seems to more of a jealous thing that one family children were getting more lavious and expensive gift while he wasnt paying for her. It just seems to be an odd thing in the story. Its obvious the mother doesnt really care about it. I just dont know.

Anyone else getting "moody teenager" vibes from this post? Like OP is just exaggerating everything? Like, dad wants to call, text, wants her to visit even though it upsets his wife. OP wants to do stuff like when she was a kid? as a teenager? Sure, he doesn't pay child support and he could fix his shit but he is far from deadbeat. I think ALL teenagers grow distant from their parents, divorced or not. Teenagers dont go to the zoo every week with their parents and it seems OP it's twisting this into more drama than it is. Stepdad was wonderful all this time? But was never mentioned while throough around all the good things bio dad did? You hardly say anything positive about him but you want him to adopt you. You treat him like an escape and an afterthought.

Op's dad was really out there saying "you're not allowed to replace me. I'm the only one that's allowed to move on and come back for you when it's convenient for me so I can keep up appearances I'm not a deadbeat." 💀 Op's mom isn't any better either. This felt so disrespectful to op's stepdad who actually treats op like one of his daughters. "Because he (Eric) is your loving dad who deserves your respect". Was mom on crack? I'll never understand a mom or a dad pushing their child to have a relationship with the other parent that gives that child nothing to work with. Op's sperm donor went and made it clear the do-over family takes all priority over his biological child. Why would you feel so comfortable pushing your child to build up their expectations and watch them get their hopes crushed. Someone said it's because op's mom hadn't let go of her feelings over her ex. I don't think that's a stretch from the truth. Also, the mom being like "You don't need therapy. Just talk to me or god". Wow. What a game changer. //sarcasm//
