THANK YOU FOR THE FULL GARDEN TOUR! Everyone needs to see it. Your wife is exactly like my husband of 43 years when I am taking him around the yard to see my garden. He does not match my energy, but he gets excited when the food is harvested and ready to consume...I have caught him taking pics and videos to show his friends. He will be out there narrating video...LOL!!! I have those same grapes with the old worn-out sign just like you. You may want to stake those grapes up soon, or they will be food for a random rabbit. I can’t wait to show this video to my husband. We get so inspired by other backyard “food forest” gardens. Yours is awesome! My husband grew up on a farm. We just moved into our first home. This house came with a old pear tree that gives hundreds of huge pears. This early spring we bought several fruit plants. We were eyeing a fuyu at the nursery, I want that specific variety but it was the only one and it was small with no branches. I know they grow fairly slowly. Can you share where you purchased your fuyu from?
@SowGoodGardener
5 ай бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏾 so much!!! I purchased my Fuyu from Calloway’s Nursery here in DFW. I’m not sure where you’re located but check your local nurseries because they usually have them in better shape than say a big box store would. I have a video on mine when I purchased it and the size it was then. I went for the biggest one possible because they’re in no hurry to grow 😂.

Get your self a "valiant " grape vine. I got mines from home depot or lowes . Each leaf bud that opend up already had the grape cluster inside of it. My vine about 1 1/2 ft tall and i have about 25 clusters already and it just started budding out about 2 weeks ago. The first one did so well i went and bought a bigger second one. The fig tree: tree is going to live. What does the card instructions say for care? You two are hilarious. Wow your food forest is beautiful. I am going to plant fruit trees but need to keep them at my level especially because I’m disabled (bad back , arthritic and 5’2”. Question; how do I keep fruit trees short without harming the tree?
@SowGoodGardener
5 ай бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏾 fam!!! My best advice would be to buy dwarf and semi dwarf varieties that are bare root. Plant them in the ground and then cut the central leader out which will cause it to branch out a lot lower. From there, just regular pruning until it starts to produce fruits.

@SowGoodGardener I bought my house in 2014, and it was already there. In 2017, It bear, and I reaped. Ever since then, it has been fruits everywhere, but they all fall off. I pruned it heavily this year, so I'm waiting to see if the fruits will stay on? Also, with what dobu fertilize urs?
@SowGoodGardener
5 ай бұрын
@@xraydesigns3880 every Fall after all the leaves have fallen off, I add a THICK layer of organic compost (NOT BLACK COW) around the base of all my trees. Then I cover them with pine bark mulch. I don’t use fertilizers at all and never have. If it’s fully established and it sounds like it is since it’s been in the ground that long, it’s probably dropping the fruit due to lack of water. Add the compost and mulch now if you haven’t already and remove as many weeds and grass as possible. They’ll grow back and that’s ok but repeat the process again in the Fall. You should see better results soon.
@xraydesigns3880
5 ай бұрын
@SowGoodGardener ok, I will add compost. It is beside a good water source, so i doubt it is water. I'll probably have to work the compost in the soil since it is this late. Thanks for ur response.

@SowGoodGardener

Check and see if it’s root bound first. If so, trim the roots back about 30% and then up pot it. If that’s not it, make sure that your soil is well draining because it could be getting over watered. Lastly, it could just need some super juice and 5-1-1 fish emulsion.

Great Garden tour 👍 I’m from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺 and it’s interesting to watch different garden channels around the World 🌍 with what people are growing. It’s interesting you had problems with Fig. as over here in Melbourne Fig and Citrus is the easiest things to grow. But we probably have problems with things that are easy for you to grow over there. Miracle Fruit is one I have problems with in my climate but other parts of Australia no problem with growing it like in Queensland. I enjoyed Fruitful Trees Channel over there in the United States 🇺🇸 and a Channel over here in Melbourne 🇦🇺 Real Life Fruitopia which is a great channel for growing tropical and subtropical trees in my Climate. Thanks for sharing your Garden with your Tour. 👍

My fig came back strong. I put all my exotics in the garage except my fig. I thought It was gonna die back like the year before, I guess she was thick enough to stay warm because she was the first to come back with new branches, and they are all loaded with figs.

is that a dwarf or a standard Golden Delicious? I learned today that you thin golden Delicious o 4 per cluster, snd other varieties to less. I got mine last year and it is in a pot. No fruit yet. My peach had about 40 peaches and I thinned them to 5 or 6. The fig can be potted snd brought inside.

Wow. They look great. I guess i will learn from you and not expect anything from my apple trees this year. But those grapes are an absolute inspiration.

Thank you so much fam! You should definitely try to grow some grapes 🍇 in containers. It’s worth it.

So , that fig tree.... it needs higher temperature than the lowest it gets there. meaning. covering it up , sure delays loss of heat, but eventually after a while, the heat will still be lost and then even inside, temperature will drop same as what's outside. Sure covering it prevents from cold wind chill, but with your fig your issue is not cold wind, but cold temperature. how to get Heat there is the question. Heat will raise temperature. option 1. a little bit of Heat is there in earth naturally , so you can dig a trench and bend the fig branches and burry them side way witha bit of force! its doable and then ur branches will keep some heat and wont die back. option 2. green house llike u said, but remember, if it is too cold and cloudy a few days, the greenhouse may eventually loose heat over night, and temperature will drop ! if it does ur figs are dead! so gotta somehow warm it up, especially when its the coldest night!

indeed about the fig trees! I did the chicago hearty fig because im a suburban gardener in illinois. my fig tree did the exact same thing. this year i did purchase another one. nut i will grow it in a container and overwinter it inside this year. If this doesn't work i will no longer grow them. Just found your channel and i enjoy the knowledge you bring. happy gardening.

Fig trees are so frustrating, yet delicious 😋 at the same time 😂. If the greenhouse doesn’t work, I’m done growing them. I’ve had them in containers before and they died back only to grow back from the bottom as well. I never brought them inside for the winter though. Thank you so much for watching and stay blessed!

So my orange tree has just been a stick for about a year already. I have repotted and fertilized and still no growth but it's not dead. Any tips on how to get my leaves to grow back

What size is it? 3-4’ tall or smaller/taller? Two of mine (Dancy Tangerine 🍊 and Key Lime 🍋🟩) were like that a few years back. I cut them all the way down to about 2 inches above the graft and let them regrow from there. They grew back extremely fast and started fruiting again the next year. Make sure that your drainage is good. Check to see if it’s root bound…if so, trim the roots back about 30% as well.

She and my husband would get along, leavin folks in stiches for sure! 🥰 OMGOSH YOU LET THAT BRANCH GO AND SLAP YOUR WIFE!!! 🫢😬🫣 You called her out on eating your single Orient pear! 😅🫣🤣 I HAVE PEACH ENVY, that tree is HUGE! 😮😍 After you scolded her for stepping on the peach gate, and she let out a big sigh, I get the feeling she won’t help hold your camera anymore. 😂 Mulberries help you booboo… 🤣🤣🤣 Ok, I just can’t anymore 😂❤ Dying here 🤣🤣🤣 “Where’s your lil tag?” Lotsa blueberries. 😍 Loved this tour!
