Here is a full travel guide to Plitvice, Croatia, how to get here, how much does it cost, how can you use public transport to reach to this national park from Zadar and how do you handle a monster storm in mid-park.
ENTRANCES
I had the opportunity to visit Plitvice in 2023 and if it's your first time going to Plitvice, you should know that there are 2 main entrances. The bus will leave you either at the 1st one, or the 2nd one. Our itinerary started with Entrance 1.
TRAVEL TIP #1
The #1 you should apply is come visit as early in the morning as possible because it gets really crowded. In my video, you will be able to experience the buzz of the noon in a random workday in Plitvice.
TRAVEL TIP #2
We purchased the tickets from their official website and, as a general travel rule, I always recommend purchasing tickets in advance from the official institutes/organizations/museum's website.

ARE THE TICKETS AVAILABLE WHEN I WANT TO GO?
Considering that this attraction is on the spot and almost 1 million tourists come to visit it yearly, you should check if there is availability in the day you wish to visit.

OFFICIAL WEBSITE
This is the official website of Pltvicka Jezera (Plitvice National Park in Croatian) np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/en/ and this is a great website that shows you what sides of the park are not open for tourists, if the case may be: np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/en/pla...
ROUTES/TRAILS
In order to visit Plitvice, depending on your wish and physical condition, there are 8 trails options available for free here np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/en/pla...
These trails have different lengths and, subsequently, different durations, being able to visit different sides of the park.
Due to the floods of May-June 2023, the H program was closed for visitors at the time of our visit, but, from my research, this trail has it all and it is do-able by everyone with a moderate health and physical condition. It starts from Entrance 2, so keep that in mind if you choose it.
TRAIL C
Trail C was the final available winner at the time of our visit and we decided to give it a chance. It has it all: panoramic train, boat ride, Lower and Upper Lakes Area, the Great Waterfall and a lovely, less crowded portion. In total, the trail has a length of 8 km and should be completed in 4-6 hours.
TRAVEL TIP #3
If you can, you should book a night at one of the hotels around the park or even in the park. You will gain so much time and it would be way more comfortable than riding a bus for 2 hours back to Zadar as we did. Here is a link with options: np-plitvicka-jezera.hr/en/pla...
FORBIDDEN
The following is strictly prohibited in the National Park:
1) Collection of plant materials, or taking any “souvenirs” of natural origin
2) Feeding the animals
3) Swimming in the lakes
4) Disposal of litter along the trails or elsewhere, except in the garbage bins installed throughout the park
5) Straying off the marked trails
CONCLUSION
Plitvice presents itself in many forms and you will be able to choose the program you want to complete. I am sure that there are also trails for families with young children, such as Program A or B.
