The Mikan drill is not trash. Nobody plays around the rim (Centers) like that anymore. Everyone is around the 3 point line now. If you had a traditional center who plays with his back to the basket, The Mikan drill is useful.✌🏾

Y'all really underrate Mikans. That shit really helped me develop my left hand in the beginning because the easy and repetitive movements allowed me to easily do a move on my right, study the exact motions and mechanisms, and replicate it on my left. In about 3 months, I properly developed my hook shot on both my left and my right because of it. Easily one of the best basketball drills out there, and I recommend all ballers to use it, especially if you have a weak hand. Once you perfect and get decent with both hands, you can move on to more complicated drills

The Mikan drill actually isn’t trash. It’s actually very good for whenever you’re getting lose and it also helps you be able to shoot layups with both hands. It also teaches you how to actually do one handed layups. Sure, most people can already do that, but for beginners, it’s a very good drill

Lmaoo the comments about the Mikans are too much. I can’t really speak for this creator, but basketball youtube in general isn’t really for beginners. Most of them. Yeah the Mikan is a fundamental one. And it’s fine when you need to get in rhythm, but yeah there has to be a little bit more dynamic play with back to basket work*. *Assuming you’ve already mastered Mikans and are doing these drills to challenge yourself a bit more for advanced play. Now, as a disclaimer, I haven’t really tried that one out yet. If I am working on a post game, I usually start off with a few Mikans and then work on post moves / paint drives. The basic spin moves and such to start off, and then whatever I feel like as I warm up. Just tryna get creative with it. Then playing 1-1 helps a lot
