I have a 2012 Impala 9C1. The car had 63K when I got in July 2019. Now it has 150K. I drive the hell out of it.

Maybe a Velcro tab will keep the Gas Guard in place.

Ever have problems with the actuators going out? My car makes several clicking sounds when first started. It’s awful. But I have the 2014 model limited. No Sun roof or wing but still fast af and the most comfortable car I’ve owned

The drivers side one quit working, but never made any noise. I went to replace it but decided to hit it a few times before I took it out and it's been working fine ever since. I know they're common to wear out and start clicking but so far mine are quiet.

What is the brown stuff on the inside called, surrounding the radio?

It is a fake wood grain trim piece. Generally put on luxury cars for a "higher end" feel but I find it to be cheap looking and out of place in the LTZ model. The older SS model used a silver dot matrix insert instead which looked much nicer.

Gen 9 ... I own a '13 (57,000 miles). Love it except the pathetic blend door actuators.

When I was editing the video I noticed I got the generations mixed up. I usually don't change the vent zones that much but in the winter I switch from defrost to the front facing ones and the actuator sounds super slow and weak which doesn't inspire confidence. Although the Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis were also known to have that issue but I never experienced it with either of mine so hopefully the impala won't fail either. I always preferred the ones that feel like you're physically turning the doors when you move the knob.

Is it faster than your crown vic?

Significantly. The 3.6 VVT engine makes 300hp meanwhile the 95 crown victoria only makes around 190hp or so. It's even more sluggish than my 04 Grand Marquis that moved pretty good.
