Rewiring the SmartDrive washing machine motor this way takes more time, but I believe gives a better result if you want to use it as a low voltage motor or generator.
I found it pretty incredible how there was little difference to my 12 turn per pole stator to this 4 turn per pole stator in torque, other than the fact that the motor in this video will be able to run at a much higher RPM at a lower voltage.
Rewiring the SmartDrive motor this way also makes it perfect for a high current low voltage generator system, that many DIY hydro/wind builders do today, for example, the high speed of a pelton water wheel would work great for this, and I'd expect power output to be 1000W or more if done well!
