There was a bonded pair of two elderly male scarlet macaws at a zoo I interned at after college that had to be moved off exhibit because they were living in an open air aviary and kept acting cute to lure guests over to them and then biting for fun. Loved those guys.

I know it’s like a 1% chance of you seeing this, but I just want to say, thank you. You have made my life 10x better by encouraging me to get my own reptile. I now have 2 gorgeous blueys who I plan on breeding next year. All the best wishes for both of you, your reptile family, and your kindness. Edit- Wowsers, I didn’t realise I got 257 likessss? I'm really glad Emily and Ed are modeling healthy adult behaviors, like taking vacations! It would be very easy for them to be all about work, 24/7, especially since they're the owners of the zoo/breeding facility. It makes me really happy that they both take the time for multiple vacations a year, and they show that as important as it is to visit family, it's also important to take time together as a couple, doing something just for. you. At least in America's all work and no play culture, it's a refreshing attitude to see adults have (and model for younger people watching).

Oh believe me I’m sure more of us would if we could 😂 living paycheck to paycheck doesn’t help, and when going to the grocery store bankrupts you, it makes it hard to do anything but work. We used to go every few years when I was a kid to a big destination, once a year at least somewhere. Now even my parents can’t afford it either. My partner and I still try to do even little trips when we can.

I wouldn't say this is a full vacation, they're still working to some capacity (this video)
@khills

@@topsysrevenge Oh, I know it's hard, but I think it's good they're modeling it. I know a lot of people have to be from my background, where my parents couldn't afford to take three kids on vacation, unless we were just driving to stay with the grandparents. And since my dad was "important enough," he still ended up working most of the time we were visiting my grandparents. The only time I ever went to say, Disneyland? I paid for it myself both times, fundraising thru Girl Scout Cookie Sales and thru a grant to attend a counseling retreat as a teen peer counselor. Off the top of my head I don't think I EVER took a vacation with my parents that was something other than seeing relatives. (My family was very poor when I was a kid. I left home early, and my family moved out of California, both of which catapulted my parents into a different income bracket that let them take my siblings around the country to Europe, stuff like that. But I missed out on all that, so now I'm adult who likes the idea of vacation but is very bad at taking them... or knowing what to do on them. I'm learning, though!
@khills

@@skylarkblue1 I mean. I'm familiar with that math as a self-employed person who does travel now. Making this video - which didn't take them much of their vacation, especially since they don't edit the footage themselves anymore - means at least some of this is now expensed as a work trip. Which is a clever way to fund a vacation in this economic climate, and I don't blame them - I am doing similar for a trip I just took to Estonia. But let's say they're gone for 5-7 days. Even just spending one day to film enough for two videos means they had 4-6 days to relax and not work. 😉

I LOVE the attitude of green iguanas. When i was a kid my adult cousin had a pet green. He'd had him for over 20 years. However, even now, like 2 deceades later, i remember his awfully overgrown claws, his broken spines, and the huge, but way to small for an igiana, fishtank he lived in. He was so old and knew nothing but that tank 😢

My dad got me a white faced capuchin for my first birthday ( relax folks we are talking 1970, people were ignorant to the plight back then) and we had the rare rare monkey that was "good". He learned very quickly that being bad meant being separated from his girl. He lived to be 36. He saw me through the entirety of my education including my degree, the first 15 years of my career and my marriage. He didn't care for another male in my life, but soon adopted him too. I say this to also say never ever get a monkey as a pet. My monkey was great, but I had dozens of monkey owner friends during those 36 years, Mine is the only one who never hurt anyone, never destroyed the house, or car, or the owner's real kids. Please please never get a monkey pet. please

Emily and Ed, oh my gosh. I was just in Guatemala (not Honduras but pretty close) a few weeks ago! And I LOVE capuchin monkeys!!!!!!! There weren’t any in the places I went to in Guatemala-instead there were spider monkeys and howler monkeys, which were still pretty cool. But I wanted to say, after my experience in Central America, that it’s truly so amazing and inspiring that several of the wild animals came right up to you guys! From what you guys said, it seems like they were used to people, but STILL I didn’t see or experience anything like that, despite having traveled with just two other people (one was the tour guide), and I think it speaks to how respectful and kind you guys are to all animals. I think they can just sense it or something. Love you guys! 🥰
