Great video and informative. One suggestion though is to do the same video with a client that is not as fit as this one. A true “beginner” so to speak. That would make what one should be looking for more informative.

not sure if there's much value in this; all we saw was someone with great mobility doing everything perfectly. I would like to see someone with restrictions and how to correct these! or describe possible / common mobility restrictions and how to make improvements

Agree that those videos would be really useful so will aim to get one on the channel soon, this was just to introduce screening to people and what to look for rather than what to do about it. It's hard to put all the info in one video as it would be too long. Thanks for the feedback though as helps me with ideas for future videos :)

Why not look at the feet in the squat? Could tell she lacks dorsiflexion because her heels came up. Also has a medial deviation as her foot rolled in. Knee issues leading to hip issues

Why do the overhead squat and the wall shoulder test. As theboth use shoulder flexability? Thank you
@Physioplusfitness
3 жыл бұрын
The overhead squat looks at lots of things that could cause forward tipping of the hands/shoulders so the wall test just confirms if its the shoulders causing the problem. If the wall test is fine then you need to look elsewhere like ankles or hips or thoracic spine as to the reason for the hands coming forward 👍

Yep ankle mobility is a really important aspect, I always do the knee to wall test to look for ankle dorsiflexion as well as looking at how the foot moves in the gait pattern as it can have a really big effect on someones function 👍

Very first exercise when conducting a fitness assessment: overhead squat.. Yeah OK next video?
@Physioplusfitness

It's as good a place to start as any, gives an overall view of how someone moves and loads of insight into what to look at next if they struggle with the move e.g - Normal squat, overhead shoulder mobility, thoracic mobility, ankle mobility. What would you suggest the first exercise be and what would your reasoning be as to why that is?
