19:58 The past several months I have kept thinking that there are so many confused, destructive people in the world who cannot be reasoned with because their families were chaotic. Obviously some people from chaotic families can be reasoned with and the effort must be attempted, rather I have just been struck by how many cannot be reasoned with, no matter how patient and kind I am, or how firm or even rude I must become in some contexts. I (a gentile) also see brainwashed jihadists as tragically beyond reason as a result of growing up in a culture saturated with falsehoods. It makes the world feel impossible sometimes, because conscientious people want to believe the locus of control lies with us and there must be something we could do to fix every possible situation, yet so many troubled people have lost any compass for productive behavior. I admire Jewish people for working so diligently on themselves in a world where others not only do not appreciate it often enough, but outright resent anyone who is capable of trying to compassionately reason with them. When someone is raised in a negative environment, it is all too common for them to actively lash out against anything that might help them. I think they learn in such chaotic families that there is no point to reason because it doesn’t work, and so they turn into the same sort of person who cannot be reasoned with. There is so much to repair.

Another fascinating shiur. Where did you learn exactly that a human may or may not develop their neshama at 20 years old? It strongly (though thankfully doesnt fully) parallels the Rambam's opinion in More Nevukhim influenced by Aristotle that the selem elokim must be developed through refinment of intellect and middot tovot otherwise one is an animal in human form and lacks the selem elokim. As Menachem Kellner understands Rambam, it goes so far as to claim a human who didnt obtain a selem elokim forfeits Olam HaBa entirely

Sorry, but 310 worlds? I was content with a shack and assigned with cleaning the temple floor. I may need to re evaluate my retirement plan!

This is extremely enlightening, thank you. You're striking a good balance and making it reasonable to digest. The knowledge that I have makes it really easy to accept. These things turn out to be self evident once you're aware but I don't have the bridging knowledge back to the scripture.

at 43 min. If God wanted to create a garment to cover Himself, it would need to be infinitely large,, so too the universe is so large because it's like a garment that he hides behind, , its gotta big!

We should be careful what we teach people. For one - that the goal of the "jew" is to be like Neo from the matrix? I thought the mystic message was for all people to eventually see past the curtain. And also its my understanding that only the arrogant, self righteous and unwise claim to know the Will and Reason of the Source "God" , which is not a man in the clouds. Thats for children. Still, your words and your work are appreciated.

Trying to do the right thing has an unright root in itself. Think deeply and you will understand that. The daughter of a killer works for a humanitarian aid because her father is a killer and it is shameful and she needs to be a right person to cover the shame. What she does not know is that she has all her roots in her father.... So, next time be careful when you try to do something right, may bee you are in fact covering something deep down in you.
