It's the standard "your mom," joke format, but as an insult it fell flat because what he ended up using as a sick burn was, basically "your mom got a higher education and is intelligent." The punchline is that she runs away as if he's just said the most horrible thing in the world.

This movie feels like it actually takes place in the real world. It does thus better than any other movie. The rural locations, the older buildings, and most importantly, the people aren't prettied up like Hollywood actors-they're unattractive like you and me.

I saw it in theaters and was so incredibly confused at the end. But it was one of those things where you are intrigued but want to keep coming back. Then when I went back to school that fall everyone was quoting that movie calling people a fat lard and copying Kip's "yes" gesture. We just collectively decided we liked it even though it probably did terribly in theaters
