A dad story between me and my youngest. She was eight and her birthday was a month away. She started throwing around ideas for a birthday, the subtle hints from an 8 year old. So one day I just got a bit serious and told her I had to sell her birthday so I could pay rent, and I thought I would be able to buy it back in time, but unexpected car repairs made it impossible for me to buy it back on time so her birthday party would be on hold indefinitely. She really made me proud even though she got very disappointed she told me she figured was more important I paid rent so we could have a place to live, and she could wait for a birthday party. To be honest that response made me feel like a heel, and as I was trying to figure out how best to tell her it was just a joke she comes walking up to me. She puts her hands on my shoulder, I was sitting on the couch. She then asks me why someone would need to buy a birthday when they get one for free on the day they are born. I couldn't help it, I started laughing. She grabbed my ears and gave me a serious head butt. We both saw stars from that one, but she was a little upset at the time. She was happy when I laughed that off and she did not get in trouble, after all I figured I deserved it.

I wish I knew a better way to say this, lol please forgive the word fumbling I might do 😅 But to me... it sounds like you raised your daughter to be able to *and* to feel comfortable enough to point out her boundaries, (even in a "subtle" way lol) without fear of being reprimanded or punished for standing up for herself. That will help her in any (not only romantic relationships, but also work relationships) and all just interpersonal relationships in general that she can (or could) have in the future. So yeah she brought it right up to that line, but she also knew that she was in a position that it was safe for her to do so. She felt *safe* enough to push how far her boundary of what was OK to her and what was not OK with you to the point that she could have gotten in trouble which means she will absolutely be able to stand up for herself against anybody else. You're a fantastic dad for making her feel safe enough to establish such a boundary with you. Lmao good God, I hope all that makes sense? 😅

What a wonderful collection! Reminds me of a back and forth I had with my son Matt about 5 years before he passed on. There were several of us watching fireworks from my boss's office on the 54th floor of the John Hancock tower in Boston when a propos of nothing he said, "I took a shower this morning." My immediate response without even thinking was, "Oh, I thought I noticed one was missing." Matt just looked at me sadly shaking his head; the others, knowing my sense of humor, had absolutely no response at all. Then about 5 seconds later, a newcomer to the group suddenly burst out laughing at which point everyone else did, too. That's one of my favorite memories of my son.

Being a typical dad, he walked around the house yelling, “Quick, somebody scare me!!” I looked him dead in the eyes and said, “I’m pregnant.” His cheerful face turned somber as he quietly said, “That’s not funny.” I replied, “No, but your hiccups are gone.” He didn’t find it as funny as I did.

My father and l drove my rather solemn mother insane. One night at dinner he started to tell a joke but started laughing in the middle of it. Which got me started. I think that when you’re given the option to skip, it’s played long enough to register as a view.

I love that Charlotte pointed out the differences in the responses from men when it comes to their sons vs daughters having sex. It's ridiculous...

"A son is a son until he takes a wife, but a daughter is a daughter all of her life." [I'd say "builds a life" in place of "takes a wife"] A son's relationship with his dad progressively changes as the son ages until, when the son is a working adult, the relationship becomes more "man to man". A dad's relationship to a daughter is unique in that she is always "Daddy's little girl" in his heart and hers too.

depending on how many sexual partners a woman has had before she is married has a SIGNIFICANT impact on whether or not a marriage will be successful. There are many studies on this and I can link them if you'd like. Men value women who are not promiscuous much more highly than promiscuous women. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but that's the way it is. Fathers giving their children the best shot at life regardless of how bad it makes them look is literally their entire job.

Thank you so much for the chuckle!!!!! My Dad is now passed, and didn’t text, but I miss his emails, ALL CAPS IN THE SUBJECT LINE with a signature yet that would say “love Dad” LOL!!! And yes, I put them in a saved folder 🥰

I went to watch this video, and it made me realize that every message I had from my dad, got deleted when I changed my message settings. He died in 2017. I hope everyone here has a good dad, and loves them very much. I hope you tell them that often and vice versa. ❤️

One of the many things I miss most about my Dad is the funny messages we used to send back and forth.! He was just a real funny guy in general so that definitely helped.

Ok, so I’ve only watched about 2.5 minutes of this video, and after benging a bunch of your content over several days, this is absolutely the best yet! Yes I’m a dad and like my now grown daughter said to me 20’ish years ago, “I love funny people. They make me laugh!” You’ve got me laughing my rear off! Thanks!

My Dad died in 1981, but he was joking around in the background (making fun of a song called "By the Time I get to Phoenix") while I was trying out my brand new radio-cassette tape player. I recorded him by accident and never erased or ran over it. I'm glad of that.
