It's interesting to see how (while there's likely a consensus) people can have a different idea of when the classic era of The Simpsons ended. This KZitemr places the end at 2005, which I respect, but for me it was around 2003-2005 when The Simpsons started declining and were doing things I didn't like - overdoing jokes, weird moments that didn't fit, in my opinion - to me, The Simpsons was going through a phase during that point, which put me in a "Modern Simpsons is bad phase." While I still find (my idea of) the classic era to be superior, I am over the Modern Simpsons hate, and these days take the episodes as I see them - a lot of my ideas of what "Modern Simpsons" was took place mainly, if not completely, in the 2000s, which is two decades ago, and not really "modern" anymore.
@GoGetYourShinebox

If we're talking about the start of the decline, I'd say 1997 with season 9. A lot of people mark the The Principal and the Pauper as the beginning of the decline and the end of the golden era

"The Big Book of British Smiles" was honestly one of the most depressing pictures books we had to 'read' in England as a child. Luckily, the re-edited version by Dr.Zeuss was significantly more entertaining. And then, by 2022, I witnessed the meth epidemic raging across America, and I realised that our dental issues really pale in comparison....fortunately I also realised we have "socialised health care" and so dentistry is free up until the age of 18 here, and partially subsidised after that, so a trip to the dentist doesn't cost 'Tom Cruise' levels of money to have a pearly Hollywood grin! Yay! "Lisa needs braces!" - Ok, cool. They're free here.

Socialized health care literally means paying in case other people get sick, and don’t even get me started on the NHS. US healthcare sucks but I would rather be here than in the UK
@rbarnett3200
Жыл бұрын
@@chonchjohnch That's one way to look at it. A more humanitarian and less selfish way would be to say it was National Health Insurance i.e. looking after the entire welfare of the nation collectively for a small contribution taken at point of pay. In the US you still have to pay for Health Insurance it's just individual, so you're still having to pay whether you're well or not, but the only person who benefits is the insurance company. Instead, here, that money that would just be going to the insurance company in profits is redistributed to someone who actually needs it. Then if you happen to be injured/sick, it get's redistributed in your favour. NI really isn't high at all, and you don't even notice it getting taken out of your wages and since it's the entire nation doing it it generates quite a lot of money and none of it goes as profit to insurance companies. Plus the government subsidises some of it too. It's a pretty good system. You should trial it in one of the smaller states like Rhode Island, it works for most of Europe pretty well.
