I fucking love Vampire Weekend, and this cover lived up to and even exceeded the original in ways, while also being completely different. Incredible.

As always, the best way to support our show is supporting the artists we have on! Executionland is phenomenal, and all of his back catalog is fantastic too. Unbelievably talented artist. furtrader.bandcamp.com

Great idea for a series and I love how their blind cover turned out. In the future, it would be nice get more coverage of the actual songwriting. The pacing feels pretty rushed here - personally I'd prefer 2-3x more meat and potatoes. Everyone writes differently, and it's super valuable to see how other songwriters approach their craft. With the rapid cuts and aggressive time compression, I wasn't really able to get into their creative headspace or walk away having learned much. Maybe you could split the interview off into its own video, or save it for the end. Tons of potential here, though. Subbed!

Thanks for watching! Lots of really good points, and honestly I agree. It's always kind of a balance because we're at war with the algorithm which prioritizes attention-grabbing. The best solution we've found is to put extended cuts up on Patreon, but I might try to make the rehearsal/writing segments longer in the future if people are interested!

@@BlindCovers Hey, I appreciate your reply. Algorithms can be a pain. I'm not a KZitem creator, but one idea would be to start with a short preview segment that ends in a brief reaction teaser, leading into your energetic title sequence. Pianote has a series where they use this type of opening and it's a pretty effective hook. One of their recent videos, if you want to see what I'm talking about, is called "Snarky Puppy Keyboardist Hears Dua Lipa For The First Time."

Ooo I'll check that out! I love Drumeo, and a lot of people have been mentioning Pianote. We've banked a couple months of episodes so we don't fall behind so any changes won't happen immediately, but we'll definitely be experimenting more in the future!

would be cool to hear more blind covers of indie bands, the lyrics to a lot of songs by Syd Matters would be fascinating to watch other bands try to wrap their heads around.

I love them trying to figure out the lyrics to Instant Crush. I remember looking the lyrics up because I couldn't make out what he was saying, and for the life of me I couldn't figure out the timing of the lyrics or the melody, just like them.

I can recommend Spiritualized, a 90s Brit Rock band with Soul and Electronic influences, often makes use of simple loops of lyrics. Cool Waves or Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space or Cop Shoot Cop, those are my personal favourites.
