For those on a budget. You can use mod podge instead of slick stick and acrylic craft paint will work great for painting. A clear top coat spray paint for finishing will give you a glossy beautiful finish. You can also iron on the design with decoupage paper. Use a sheet of parchment between the paper and iron.

This little hutch/cabinet turned out adorable! Lots of good tips and tricks in this video. I'm getting ready to do my entire 5 piece bedroom suite. It's that awful old honey gold color. It was OK 18 years ago as a fashion statement, but now it just looks old, tired and yucky! So I've been watching videos to get ideas. My bedroom theme has been Gone With The Wind forever. It's my favorite book and I have tons of wall art. So, I'm going for a sage green look and adding a barn motifs on the headboard and sunflowers on the other pieces. My husband is installing new hardwood this week and I'm doing an accent wall of old barn wood. This has been a year in planning and I'm so excited!!!

Here’s a tip… if you’re using a decoupage paper that has a wide margin (as this one did) - tear the paper carefully along the exposed edge and it will minimize the paper edge line. You will usually not have to fill in with mud.

I went that route with the first paper And decided using the whole sheet worked better on this piece. Since the paper is so small I didn’t need to lay it down. I would definitely lay down for a bigger Decoupage papers though.

I love how the doors are done in a decorative framed style as you can put any image or two tone color or anything you want really. And my gosh sweety, you must have a never ending stream of dressers passed along your way hahaha. The biggest piece of furniture I ever done (once) was a grand piano I had to do for my sister. This was long ago. The previous owner painted it with house paint and a roller. Like omg house paint on a grand piano. I died..lol. So I had to strip all the paint off and start from scratch. It was a huge job to do and I painted it black with a two part basecoat/clear coat automotive paint. Then I played it for hours. I love the decorative materials you use. Especially the choice in stencils and paper prints you use like this Decoupage paper. You have a lot of patience sweety I give you that. It's also fun when you can artistically paint flowers by hand using acrylics. I had to practice a lot before I had the hang of doing an array of flowers and leaves. You are very good at what you do and you make these pieces of furniture really stand out. Excellent work!

Thank you! I get that...It took me a while to gather all the basics like Primers, sealers and brushes But the decoupage papers are pretty inexpensive and the stencils you can use over and over so they do end up paying for themselves overtime. Before I could afford the Redesign with prima transfers I would decoupage napkins to my furniture. It looked great! Now I figure I can use one transfer on two or three pieces That way I can get a big bang for my buck.

The side stencils don't really "work" with the beautifully delicate flowers you added to the front/doors; the ideal "finish" would've been carefully cut-out florals from the same paper you used for the doors applied to your cabinet sides. Quite a few of your audience here have made this same observation. I refinish/makeover furniture for a living; you made a LOT more unnecessary work for your self by using the whole sheet of flowers instead of just trimming down very close to the florals and then decoupaging. Otherwise, it's truly a beautiful piece and you did a great job! Hoping you'll try another piece trimming off all that paper, you won't need anything but topcoat to go over the delineation between paper and surface. I would also finish by saying everybody has different aesthetics, so if you're truly happy with the piece??---that's all that matters. Best Wishes to you~!

Very pretty result. You do a great job transforming these pieces. I suppose a few colors could be used on the stencils too, like green leaves, a softer pink on the smaller flowers, etc... to match the front pattern. I really like the graceful way you positioned them in the corners. Do they make a sparkly silver that glitters, for the trims? Just an idea. I could see this cabinet in a little girl’s bedroom, very cheery.
