Went and bought all the supplies I needed for this project, exactly what the description called for. I followed the instructions and this project just does not work. First off, it has 0 stability whatsoever. Had to add corner pieces to keep it from wabbling. Second of all the top piece is not a 10" piece. It will not fit across. I assume what's actually used in this video is a 12" piece? You also need to mention that the longest 50" pieces must be cut first or you won't have enough wood left over and you'll actually need five 8' pieces. This is a poorly edited video. Very disappointed. Unsubscribed.

Is the top piece 10in or 12in? Once the 8in pieces are connected to the longer pieces to make the sides of the table it ends up making the table 12 inches deep. I only ask cause I really like the depth of your table and don’t know wether to make it a 12in top or cut the 8in pieces down to 6 inches.

Pointer - from another DIY thrifty Mom. Get a Kreg pocket hole hug next time. It’s super easy and allows you to hide your screws and makes the table even stronger. The small one is only $20 but you can use it on all your projects in the future. To save money get cheaper wood screws with the matching tip to the jig. I LOVE mine!

Catherine, just want to let you know there is a little discrepancy in your list-to-video supply list. My husband and I are in the process of making this project and hit a little road block. The video states 4 pieces 32” long but the project list states 30” long. Also, the furring strips you purchase in the video states, 1”x2” however the video shows Charlie using 2”x2” pieces. Sorry to point this out but just trying to avoid anyone else from hitting the road block. Love you and your family and absolutely love your channel. Thanks for all you do!! And if no one has told you today, YOU ARE ENOUGH! 😄💕

Do you have a tutorial for book shelves? I desperately need more bookshelves but either haven't found ones I like (that match my existing ones) or ones I can afford. Also, the only "experience" I have in wood cutting and putting together was from a shop class I took in 6tb grade. That was a LONG time ago. Lol Anyway, I'm going to get a drill for the first time in my life. You had a Black and Decker one in the video. Is this s good drill for beginners?
@hugsxkissesftw3959
5 жыл бұрын
Ok. I tried this. Please update your measurements. They do not work using a 10x54 inch board if you use 8" stabilizing pieces. They make the legs too wide. My guess is that you picked up 12" wide board . That is the only way the 8" stabilizing pieces will work. We had to cut down the stabilizing pieces to fit because we had already painted and stained everything

quick grammar tip: if you want to know whether to use "I" or "me" in a sentence...if. the sentence makes sense without the other person, then use "I". If it doesn't, use "me"... Example..."It was late, just Charlie and I in the garage". Does this make sense without Charlie? It was late, just I in the garage. Nope. Just I in the garage. Doesn't make sense, so it should have been "it was late, just Charlie and ME in the garage." Easy peasy. Your kids will get A's in grammar if they learn this early on.

Another way to save money on wood, at Menards they have a section where you can buy the pieces of precut lumber scraps... I get 36" pieces or less of many different size pieces of lumber to make console tables, work bench and much more in a dime. The pieces are anywhere between $.95 to $2.00 each depending on the width of the boards. I built a wood holder for my fireplace for $15.

Loved this video. Living in a condo the tools you used are about what I have. The only thing I have to worry about is staining things. HINT for a smoother finish, use a 120 to 180 grit sandpaper. It will also help to give a more even finish when you stain it. But great video, furniture that is functional and looks good does not require massive skill and it doesn't have to cost a lot. BTW, ad a few touches and viewers could actually sell these. You would be surprised at what others will buy. Yes this is a piece worthy of selling to make a few extra bucks.

I seem one identical...it was $199!!! The ones I've gotten that were 69.99 or 89.99 ended yo wobbly or had the wrong color I had to settle with. This is a great idea. You can choice you color....another tip that cost even less...use acrylic paint eith water for the stain. No mess, no smell and works just as good. The best color is burnt umber from apple barrel. It gives the best worn rustic stain. Then you can use a acrylic gloss spray after it dries.
