Why do you put the houses on the thin fire and put the glass on top? I’ve always done it the opposite. Just curious.

Tabitha my kiln Is long but shallow. 9” deep. . I’ve elements in the lid that I can reduce the heat from, I’ve not slumped anything in a mold this large. Is it common to reduce the lid heat for these type slumps? I usually keep the top elements on Setting 3 out of 10. Thank you

@@sherrirowan5049 I don’t know your kiln so it’s hard to advise. The standard practice is that closer the glass is to the elements and the thicker and/or irregularity of the thickness of the glass the slower you want to heat it to avoid thermal shock. So if the glass is close to the elements you might want to slow the rate down to 50oC or even less. I’ve no idea what it means by setting 3 out of 10, all my kilns are either rate per hour or time to temperature so I can’t help you with this.

Do you know what caused the slight devit on the blue?
@TabithasGlassEmporium

Hi, as it is a deep mold, it slightly wrinkled the glass to fit the mold, it is not actually devit on the glass.

@@TabithasGlassEmporium Thankyou Tabitha I will do that, can a kiln used to bake pottery be used to fuse glass? As my local craft group has a kiln 😊 Thank you for responding

So adorable! It appears that the blue circle was placed on top of the houses, etc. Is that correct? I don’t understand how the houses did not change color.
