If the figures work. You have the space and the interest then why not? It’s not always about value.. I bought a Rover 100 project in England. Got it running and driving and had it shipped here. Cost more to do that than the car but to me it’s worth it.

I really love the body and especially the roof lines on that car like you mentioned, a lot, sure would be nice to know why it was parked, would be nice to have a motor in good condition that you can run, cant expect it to be as unreal as the motor is in that early fifties Chevy you bought and got running , the two door, multy colored one i guess but, would be nice to get the price down a couple or few hundred but where you gonna see another 2 door , body looks actually pretty darn good on the outside anyways, hopefully you could get the motor unstuck with the mystery oil etc.. It would be so cool looking and running, i love this thing, its only a year older than me so gonna say buy it, a thousand bucks aint the end of the world if he wont budge but i hope he does, others interested in it to so good chance he gets what hes asking in that regard to. Go for it and see what happens, at least you'll know you tryed, good luck Richard and Christina, would sure love to see you working on that beauty, cheers.

Main issues that would concern me would be the brakes and suspension. IIRC, early 60's Ramblers use a kingpin front suspension instead of balljoints. I'd check for parts availability for the suspension and brakes if you intend to keep it stock. Otherwise a front suspension swap from an early Nova or Falcon (or Mustang II) might be a viable option. Fitting it with a later model 232/258 AMC six & transmission shouldn't be too difficult.

I'd stick to the price you offered. Everybody seems to think old means worth far too much. If anyone can save it and get it back on the road, you and Christina can. WHY people do these things is beyond my ability to understand. Why not sell it when it's in great condition and can bring a good price. Now it's almost at the level of being nothing but a parts car and that's a real shame. Like you, I've always liked the early Ramblers.

Price is everything. You likely won’t get back what you put into it. It would be purely for the challenge. That said, what a great car for a sleeper or maybe a gasser? Stick to your instincts on the price.

Ultimately, I'd rather say no. Looks like low price entry ticket. As usual all other you have to pay after. Yes, it is more or less solid (not looking on the bottom of it) and nicely complete (you know better than me how questionable is to find trim pieces and interior parts for rare car). And Yes, it is rare. BUT it is not iconic. It is niche car for real lover of it. Engine and drivetrain not known condition. Take it only if it will bring you back to your past good memories. Otherwise step back. All imo.

The body is to straight to let it go, if you can get it for a reasonable price. Clean it up, get it running and turn it for some profit and let someone else have the fun of restoring it from there. But only sell it to some that will finish it up, it deserves to be back on the roads.
