This could actually be great for movies in movie theatres, for those that can’t hear well. Dialogue in theatres is always the thing that people complain about.

I love the concept of auracast however this far I haven't heard anyone to talk about the elephant in the room in my opinion which is latency. The use at the stand was nice but nothing too useful to me personally. If they are somehow able to reduce the latency as much as possible this could possibly change the game in live music monitoring.

Being a huge fan of multipoint connectivity (which is actually handy for switching between devices mainly) I find this feature not only game changing but really useful for so many usecases. Looking forward!

All great at the Source level Aaron, many things are. The problems come when device OEM's try to put their spin on it and mess it up for the human race. Thanks for the video.

Does it include multipoint support? E.g., could you stay connected to your phone for the music when you connect the airport stream for intermittent announcements (which should ideally be per flight btw)?

Bluetooth has been around for so long (I had the first bluetooth mobile phone in 2003, a cute sony-eriscon thing) that I was shocked when I got my first bluetooth earbud last november to discover it didn't do this already. Also surprised at the latency issues etc etc. The latter problem is I think mainly because of high bit-rate streaming due to the non-acceptance of double-blind audio tests that showed, for example, that 192kbps mp3 were (almost always) indistinguishable from the highest possible quality, and which was also the reason for the failure of SACD plus the total lack of need of 196Khz/24bit audio other than for mastering. Yet here we are with all this high bitrate stuff that we truly don't need soaking up battery life etc

I heard somewhere that Dolby Atmos is the next step for TWS. I think there are some that already has it.

Yea that's an important development too, but it doesn't change the game as much as this. 🤔

@@aaronloudnwireless really? Aura seems to me like the next generation multipoint, not the most important feature of TWS. I think sound quality improvement is way more important as most people use TWS for music listening. I'm not sure if it's totally a good idea to rely on it for boarding announcement, considering the potential communication loss which could lead to missing your flight. I do think it's pretty cool to be able to choose what you want to hear in a noisy bar though, basketball vs football. I guess you can come up with lots of other possibilities. It's a cool technology nonetheless.

Hi, I really enjoyed your video. It shows where you can expect to find Auracast and how to use it. A comment on the updating of old earbuds: You Will need a Bluetooth chip that supports Bluetooth 5.2 or newer. Most chips in today's Earphones don't do that because Bluetooth Classic Audio is not Bluetooth LE based. So they will use Bluetooth 4.0 (I think 4.0 but it is 4.something). So Earphones will likely not get updates; Phones on the other hand usually support Bluetooth LE. If you have a newer phone you can use it today by going into the developer settings.

I always enjoy your videos for your sincere clear and concise explanation. I was mildly surprised to see that you were wearing Bose QC ii earphones at the start of the video. Therefore, I wonder if what your view is on the comparison of ANC on both products. I have be a Bose headphone fan since the start as I have found no other brand does ANCE like Bose…Or perhaps you can say otherwise. Looking forward to your next video.

Thank you for reporting this! Safe to summarize as: still uses Bluetooth but increased the number of devices to infinite, simplified the paring process by only showing supported devices in a stand-alone app, but no increase in range? This means in the airport or public speech cases, they'd still need to implement a huge number of transmitters around the building AND they'd need to advertise it so that people know this tech exists. So, it's still possible that this is one of those technologies that are great ideas but cost too much to become a standard?
@aaronloudnwireless

It will be a while before this goes full mainstream but imo they are making every effort that it won't be costly or disruptive.
@finnvF

it is worth pointing out that this is Bluetooth LE, and nor classic Bluetooth. If you look at companies like Nordic semi, they made Bluetooth LE connections for kilometers range. That also works for LE Audio (which is the base for Auracast)
