Good job, number one mistake people make is changing the oil when the motor is cold. As a nissan technician, always run the motor before you change the oil. You want all the debris to be lifted off the bottom of the pan. Otherwise when you drain the oil you won't get the majority of the debris out.

It's personal preference. This bike gets hot pretty quick so I just let it go to 160ish which is still not completely up to temp, 180 is normal while driving for me, the cooling fan doesn't cut on till like 220. Just do what feels right to you

The only thing I️ would add, is there is actually a level indicator on the sight glass towards the top that’s actually built into the engine case, it looks like two small lines coming off the sight glass and the oil level should be between half way and those lines for proper level
@Iamjim1

Hey Man, Great job on the video. One thing I had learned when I was a lube tech way back in the day, is to pull the filler cap off before you drain that way it pulls air from the top not creating a vacuum. No vacuum = quicker drain time. I know the difference may be trivial, just thought I'd give you a heads up!

I'd be willing to bet they are, but double check your owners manual just to be sure. If you're not confident in doing it yourself, there's absolutely no shame it getting it done by somebody else. If you want to try it though, research everything you can and give it a try. Keep in mind everybody is sharing their OPINION on doing it the right way, myself included.

The only difference in drive size with regards to digital torque wrenches is the range of torque they can measure accurately. 3/8 are usually a good bet as they can do a wide range that's typically good for auto/bike stuff IMO

Putting oil in the filter is a complete waste of time. The oil filter is on the return path so the oil you put in the filter does nothing until it the rest of the oil is pumped to the top of the engine and returned to the filter and finally into the oil pan. Best to have proper amount of oil in the pan rather than sitting in that filter.

Hi-Viz Smiley oh yeah I get it. I was also told that for years. Wal Mart even trains there techs to fill the filter on Turbo vehicles. I pulled my 418 hp RX7 in there and told them to fill the filter. Amazingly it all runs out when you turn it upside down to install on the engine. Anyway I don't think it is " bad " to put oil in the filter just passing on information that I have learned.

So, I have an FZ-07 2015, and I've been doing a lot of reading trying to determine the 'best' engine oil to use since I'm about to change mine for the first time (bought the bike used). Popular opinion seems to say 10w-40 and full synthetic. In your vid the oil you use is the performance all purpose. Would you please elaborate on why you opt for non-synthetic? Thanks!

damn i just did my 1st service yesterday, pretty much the same minus putting some oil in the filter though. i thought ive put a bit much though, how exactly do u know when its level? the book says btwn the marker right? how much time like minutes do u have to wait to get the correct level?
@HiVizSmiley
7 жыл бұрын
It's not a huge deal putting oil in the filter, just something I've always done on all of my vehicles. Don't sweat it, the bike dealers probably wouldn't have done it either. As far as the level, just look for it to be in between the upper and lower marks on the sight glass(there's marks on the front and rear) and put it as close to the middle as possible. I usually err on the side of slightly low, because it's a whole lot easier to add oil than it is to take it out. I usually wait maybe 60 seconds to check it. If you have any other questions let me know!

Not really. Very seriously doubt you could get anything out sucking through the fill hole and trying to barely drain out of the drain plug would be annoying.
