Hey! I really enjoyed watching your amazing reaction to Ulveham (meaning: wolf skin) 😊. How amazing that you liked it. Gåte produces music which combines Norwegian folk music and modern progressive rock, also touching upon electrinica. (The band name "gåte" means riddle). Their music genre has varied a little during different stages of their carreer, as the band was established in 1999 when the female front singer was just 13-14 years of age. Now they're again quite rocky, which I love. They are often referred to as a Norwegian alternative folk band or Norwegian progressive folk-rock band, you name it 😁. I'm so happy for them and happy that they finally accepted the offer to join this year's Melodi Grand Prix. Last year Gunnhild (front singer in the band) was requested to participate as a solo artist with a song made for her, but she declined the offer as she didn't wish to perform without her band. Ulveham wasn't produced with the intention of being represented in this music competition, but they luckily had this song ready at the time they were asked to participate in the competition 🎶. To me this type of music is so close at heart. It makes me emotional and it heals me inside to listen to if I had a crappy day. Love from Norway ❤️

@EurovisionwithAlperen Thanks a lot for taking the time to respond to my comment 🥰. I'm glad that you like this type of music also. The intro at the beginning is an old recording of a herding call (Norwegian: kulokk) which is a traditional (Norwegian and Swedish) way of calling for your livestock (cows, goats, sheep) to come down from the mountains after finishing grassing). The EBU (European Broadcasting Union) has approved the use of this 70 year old recording to be used at the intro of the performance. A special high-pitched voice technique is used for this type of song and the voice needs to carry over long distance to be heard by the animals. The string instrument that you see is called "nøkkelharpe" (A little secret ...I come from the same place as the band member that plays this instrument 🤫). This instrument has in recent years achieved the status as the national instrument of our neighbouring country, Sweden (Swedish: "nyckelharpa", meaning key harp/fiddle), but the instrument was traditionally in use in Norway some centuries ago, same as in Denmark and Germany as well, but went out of use there. So, it can safely be used for traditional Norwegian songs. The singer knows to use traditional singing techniques. If you ever have the time to listen to the long/full version of this song, then I can warmly recommend that, it lasts 6 minutes. Gåte had originally not intended to use this song at the Eurovision, which is why the full version is twice as long. The longer version has a really nice bridge at 3 minutes 21 seconds into the song, which has been left out in the short version 🎶😉 kzitem.info/news/bejne/2mOn05p_rZR8pH4si=h4mAvpVojwailOFU

You are so sweet thank you so much for your indormative comment i really appreciate it 🙏 one of the reasons that i watch Eurovision is to know something different and unique about other countries’ cultures and languages or traditions. So your comment is like a treasure for me cause i watched so many reaction videos about this performance but of course non of them were informative as your beatiful comment and that’s why I like Eurovision it really unites people and the informations that you wrote is so valuable because you are a Norwegian and has the same town with her how can i learn something better from anyone else 😅 and i listened it and as you mentioned the bridge was soo good and yeah it is a little bit long for Eurovision but so good. Idk how to say thank you of course I have time thank you so so so much 😇🇳🇴

You should listen to Jygri and Iselilja - both amazing albums! Impressive vocals for her young age, Jygri was released when Gunnhild was 16 👏🏻👏🏻 So proud of our fantastic entry 🤩

Great reaction! Love to see young people enjoy this kind of music. The bands name can be translated to "Enigma" or "Riddle". In Norwegian both are the same, but I guess "Enigma" would be the right way to translate it.

@@EurovisionwithAlperen well yes, it is about her mother dying. Her evil stepmother turned her into a sword and a needle. Sent her to the Kings farm (like a castle in Norwegian standards at that time 1000 years ago I guess). Her stepmother didnt like that she got popular so she turned her beauty into the skin of a wolf. And she won’t be complete until she drinks her brothers blood. So I don’t know, maybe this is actually a very old saga story about someone who were turned into a where wolf 🐺
