Peanuts have nothing to do with the phonics of the recipe chef...basically the sound of cooking the veggies in the recipe is called 'khotkhoto' in konkani language (boiling)..hence the name evolved .khatkhate.. We never give tadka to the khatkhate in the authentic preparation too... Anyways,I loved the introduction and got to know about our recipe being connected to other state of India as well.. Thanks a lot

Thanks for sharing this recipe. Being a Goan couldn’t appreciate you more!! I would like to mention one thing though, खतखतें is not just cooked by Goan Saraswat community but also by other Goan Hindu communities, let’s just call it traditional Goan Hindu dish instead of referring to any specific caste.

Chef visit goan temple food or hindu wedding food to enjoy real khatkate. d vegetables used are not peanuts but jackfruit seeds, raw jackfruit pieces, different tubers only found in goa n ingredients much much beyond u can even imagine. But still u r a good chef.

I'm a Goan. It's 'खतखतें' the last letter is nasalised. Secondly there is no tadka added to khatkate..
