scrims are for finding your strengths, sorting out your weaknesses and discovering picks/comps in the meta - stage is where you leverage your strengths, apply the meta knowledge and best iron out those weaknesses vis a vis the opponent of the day... learning lessons for yourself vs lessons learned and countering opponents question is if G2 actually learns more than they give away - some teams say you have to play stronger opponents and lose to learn, some say you learn most from winning, some say you have to build confidence.. who knows..?!

They can get 3 perfect games in scrims against the best teams in the world for all I care, they need to be able to bring that onto the stage for it to have the same value. They'll just be called chokers even more than they are already on the international stage. They apparently had their best year of scrimms based on what they saw, and it was the first time in ages not a single EU team made it to top 8 at worlds.

Win/loss in a scrim does have some value. But not much as some people think it is. Saying that it has zero value is just wrong according to various coaches and pros.
@scifimisc9191
5 ай бұрын
@abouttime2569 Oh it definitely has some value. It also 1000% does not have the value some people seem to think it does. Its almost as insane as putting any stock behind the words of coaches who have run a region competitively into the ground.

it's really just for practicing. It's not hard to understand. Not reflective of real matches because teams can choke like western teams. Does working out have value for NBA players? Yes, they do that to maintain their form. Does that mean they'll always win on real games?
@ClickHere4Naruto
5 ай бұрын
Except it does. If you go throughout history and look whos winning scrims vs whos not it usually lines up pretty similarly to the actual results. Not exactly, there will always be some teams sprinting it in scrims and some who are scrim gods but can't perform, but it means a fair amount. Most western teams lose to scrims vs the top asian teams and lose the stage games. Most teams in EU lose to G2 stage and scrims. Anything can happen, last year NRG won fair and square but similarly G2 were playing better over the whole tournament. But one day is enough to lose and that's competition for ya.
