I played euphonium till I was 19. I then switched to cornet because I was interested in jazz. 37 years later and I am considering a switch to euphonium or baritone as I have had a few dental and facial nerve issues. Currently selling two of my trumpets. Then I am going to borrow band baritone and euphonium to see which suits me best. Then I will buy one. I never thought I would switch from cornet, but it may keep me playing for longer.

Euphonium will definitely be less physical on facial muscles.

Perfection, my friend. Leads one to think Faure may have had the euphonium in mind as he composed. Such a perfect match for the Pavane. I'm going to order this one.

Matonizz, do you notice any tonal difference between silver and lacquer plated instruments? - Also, thank you so much for this!

With all honesty, I never had enough time to experiment with lacquers of same model to really be able to tell. In theory yes, in practice I don't really know :)

Are the valves good in the JP 274? I’ve heard they are kind of sluggish rather than quick what’s your opinion since you play it everyday basically😂

It's probably one of the weaker areas on 274. Valve movement feels very smooth and not loud. However, once temperature and humidity rises, the metal swells where sometimes it becomes slow to come back. This is a problem with JP, Sterling and Besson. I've been going around this problem by replacing springs maybe once a year and making sure that I don't overoil the instrument, and when I use oil, it's lightest synthetic version. That being said, the rumor unfortunately is not totally without any merit :)
