You hope he will be around for a long time? Friend they don't call it "morbid obesity" for no reason. Clue is in the name... Morbid means a disease that'll cause death with the "disease" being the rigged SAD food system and a complete lack of willpower or education. I'm 43 and weight loss has probably the biggest struggle in my life as well. The number of things that are normal to your diet that you know you have to or at least should say no to are legion and you know exactly what they are. Using Ozempic or Semaglutide is not "continuing to fight". It is cheating. It is a temporary solution for a permanent problem. You have an eating disorder. Using a cheat-code drug for a year to help you shed 50lbs isn't going to do anything for you, because as soon as you get off that medication, you are going right back to your old habits and putting all that weight back on.

I've struggled with weight too, but for me, it's more about the convenience than the cravings. It's so difficult to find healthy food options on the road, especially at night, so I usually end up eating at whatever's open (usually just pizza or burger joints.) If they had healthy fast food options at night, I'd probably be a good 30 lbs leaner.

This is probably the most honest conversation I have heard about weight loss & what being heavy does to the body in a very long time. As someone who has had a life long struggle with my weight, I appreciate what both men brought to the conversation. What Joe said about how the extra weight is so taxing on your natural, physical resources needs to be shouted from the roof tops. As a society we have tried to gaslight people into thinking being obese is okay & even healthy. I need to lose about 50 lbs myself, but am prescription free & my blood work is always great. HOWEVER, the wear & tear on my joints, back & various systems of the body need to be acknowledged if things do not change. Modern medicine does not worry about that. I may not need meds now, but if I stay this course, I will eventually, and that is great for them. What Gabriel says about how difficult it is to lose weight is truly relatable. I have anxiety & ADD. I find the focus & will power to stick to whatever I am doing is really hard to come by. I have moments where I literally forget that I am not supposed to do x,y, or z or eat a,b, or c. Then I feel so guilty about messing up. This is the kind of conversation we need to be having. Thank you!

if anyone is struggling with weight loss, I know it's by no means easy. some of the best advice I got personally though was to focus on adding things vs removing. e.g. eat some veggies before whatever meal you were planning already, or some fruit before a dessert. it will help fill you up a bit on something healthy, and in the long run will help you reduce your cravings. (Jesse Inchauspe also shares a lot of info about all the benefits of having a veggie starter in helping regulate your hunger, mood, satiety, even aging). it's also really helpful to do some produce prep. you don't have to do full meal prep, but just spend 10 minutes chopping up some fruit or veggies so that they're easier to eat or add in to your meal. seems like a small change, but making fibrous foods easier to access will make a surprisingly big difference in how often you eat them.

Yep. I’ve seen friends and girlfriends restrict their food choices, “I can’t eat this, I can’t eat that,” and next thing you know, they’re starving and eating fast food, or whatever’s closest, or empty calories like candy and snacks. But if they focus on what TO eat rather than what not to, it will help.

The first work out is what usually gets people to jump off the horse. Usually when I train with someone new, we start off with a really short jog and a 1/2 mile walk. After that we do some barbell (bar only) squat, And barbell bench (bar only). We follow all that up with some fun work outs. Like rows and biceps. But keeping it light. Then we make time with some flexibility training. For active people this could look like a really light training/warm up. But my goal is to get peoples blood flowing. I don’t want someone being sore for two weeks. After a couple of weeks of that. We jump straight into weight and activity that they could tire themselves on. They’ll be sore but usually ready for the next session.

I was 376 about a year ago and now I am around 315. My doctor put me on Ozempic about a year ago because my sugar was borderline high. Ozempic and some light supersize fixed my sugar. Once the sugar came down he suggested I keep using it because I was losing consistent weight. I think the medication effects people in different ways. My side effects are really just no appetite. Maybe a little nauseous on the day of the injection. But nothing that would keep you home from work and I have never thrown up. I have been consistently and slowly losing for a year and have not plateaued yet. And the effects do not seem to be changing over time. I do about 30 minutes of very light yoga 3 or 4 times a week. I never feel hungry for those first 5 days after injection. Those last few days I can start to feel it wear off. It almost feels like a mental thing. Food is an afterthought. You just don't care about it. You would be just as happy with a handful of crackers as you would a Cheeseburger. To give you an idea of what it like. I can get a chik-fil-a combo with fries and a drink and it last me the entire day. Not because I feel sick from eating. I just don't want it. Its hard to explain. I can eat some of the fries on the way home if I even get those. Cut the sandwich in half and eat part then and then part later in the day. My biggest struggle is I have kids constant;y around the house. There is always bad food around and we all know the bad food is always the easiest to make. So when the time comes to fix something. Because I am not really interested in preparing a bigger healthier meal, I end up fixing something quick and easy just to get by. I know for a fact if I could fix that I would have lost even more. I just think it works for certain people and others its temporary like anything else. Once I stop using it altogether will I gain it back? Maybe. I did take a 2 week vacation and did not take it for 3 weeks last summer. Maybe its because we were so busy doing things I lost 7 or 8 pounds on the vacation. I ate mostly normal but we stayed busy. So who knows. Its all about lifestyle. Maybe the Ozempic was a good tool to get me on the right track. Or close to it.

Well if you’re on it long enough your stomach itself will shrink so you’ll be fuller much faster, you’d have to re-stretch your stomach until you could eat the same quantities again. I got sick and went from chunky to skeletal when my body rejected everything I ate, so I’d eat and then spend two hours throwing up till my stomach was empty. Most end up on feeding tubes, I chose to either figure it out or die, still inbetween. My point was, if not clear, when you hit whenever you want to be weight wise, your body will have adjusted to eating less and such, it’s only if you choose to push that again will it reverse. I even go to a point where I knew if I ate I’d get sick so I began to get sick before I even ate cause my brain jumped the gun.

I have such great respect for the struggles overweight people go through to try and exercise, and to lose weight and control their weight. For someone like me it's relatively easy, for them it's like walking uphill pushing a huge boulder in front of them.

@taylorlibby7642 I remember my dietitian, who was overweight for a nanosecond when she was sixteen, asked me, after I had lost the first 35, if my clothes size had changed. That was when I discovered that she had never been above a size 16 and only for a nanosecond. Once a woman is over a size 16, the difference between one size and the next one is not a mere five or ten pounds. It's a question of 30 to 35 lb per dress size. Which can be a real motivation killer... and I pointed that out to her so that she would keep it in mind when working with her clients.

I’m 35 and I lost 100 lbs in 9 months doing keto and fasting. Eating only Whole Foods. I feel fucking amazing. My energy is way higher from the diet and being in better shape. I had major clinical depression and suicidal ideation and now my mental health is so much better. I feel happy consistently. This was before I really started losing weight too. Just from the diet switch.

Hey Joe, I have been on Ozempic for over a year to help with my diabetes. I have never been an over eater in my entire life. I was an athlete. I had an accident and ended up gaining 50lbs!!! Talk about depression, not feeling fine any minute of the day, and the physical pain as you are explaining it. It has been a mind blowing experience over the years. I do not nor have U ever taken anything for pain due to the fact it will murder my kidneys, liver, etc. I did not want to begin the Ozempic. The insulin and pills was disgusting enough to my body . The Ozempic like, Gabriel has stated immediately helped to regulate my sugar level to the point of my doctor says I will be able to get off the insulin after 7 years of injections twice a day. The 30 lbs of fat loss was over 6 months . I do not have high blood pressure and never have. I believe it is because of my constant activity level prior . I have never appreciated your comments in overweight people before even though I was not in the category but I did appreciate your explanation today with the vest on. Blessings

Joe has an holier than thou attitude on weight loss. I used to as well. I always had bad genetics. I gain weight easily. But I could control my weight with diet and exercise up until my late thirties. Then it became super hard, even with very low calorie diets and intense exercise. I think in my case it's stress related but also just a nature of aging. I tried ozempic and it barely moved the needle. The only thing that works is speed (I did dabble in that shit for a year). Of course, if I had millions of dolalrs, I would probably have tons of time to work out all day but like 99% of people, I have a 9 to 5 jobs with kids and stress and shit and working out is not as easy as it used to be. I still do lots of it but I don't do those extreme workiouts I did in my twenties. Anyway, Joe is a little ignorant about weight loss. And I can see he judges Gabriel when he says he's on Ozempic yet Joe is clearly somethings, probably T and HGH. So maybe he should take that atittude down a little.

Joe Rogan is an Elitist to the bone. It's what makes him great but also his greatest fault. Huge ego and fanatically competitive willing to do shit other people won't to do just to say he's the best. Almost always comes attached with the attitude to look down upon those that aren't at his level.
@lq4275
Жыл бұрын
@mexcellent227 everybody's competitive, bub. Some people just have life path's that make them look defeated. People wouldn't be so avoidant when they fail if they weren't competitive in the first place. Total losers have an ego too, they just act on impusle. This idea that only hyper successful men are competitve is idiotic. Joe has a good understanding of how grinding amd discipline leads to success but he juxtaposes the results he got to the average Joe. Very successful people have a good mindset but they often ignore all the luck they had, meeting the right people and timely opportunities. They rewrite their story and claim they earned it all by themselves. I know a dude who was a Canadian Tae Kwon doe champion and he ended up as a jaded cop. Joe acts like his competitive drive as a teen made him earn millions and millions. He lacks self awareness, humility and grace. I just make a 100k a year and I am able to admit that there was a tremendous amount of luck in my career path. Joe's best quality is curiosity. The rest of his personality isn't getting better as he surrounds himself with grifters and suckups.
@mexcellent227
Жыл бұрын
You're not wrong but I never said only hyper successful men are competitive. I'm only pointing out that if you realize Joe is an absolute Elitist most of his personality traits start to make complete sense. But anyway, I enjoy his content and everyone has faults. I just know that type of personality and at the end of the day the thing that drives those people the most is being better than everyone else. And I don't think that's 100% wrong for the record.

@@Ex_877 i don’t know if i can really understand it myself. It’s just like routine or bad habits. It’s like waking up, getting out of bed, using the restroom, taking a shower, going to work, any other daily activity. It’s not like a switch that can be turned on or off. People also eat as a form of stress or coping, and then stress about eating thus creating a cycle
