I've been a fan of hers for a decade so far -- I always think that music is her first language, even before Spanish. Seven months is about the age when infant brains start to process language, although they don't speak yet because their throats aren't developed enough. But deaf babies will sign-babble to their parents starting about then, so the hands are ready to go earlier. And she started by listening to her mom singing and repeating the tunes, just like babies learn to talk. Music is literally her native language.

Time from Inception improvisation by Gabriela Montero created a dreamy atmosphere, where at least with my mind I experienced the sensation of weightlessness. Fortunately it was the longest improvisation. Nice idea of creating the dialogue at a distance between the violin input and the response with the improvisation of the piano.

I wish he’d asked the question whether she remembers what she improvised.

She's a genius. Interestingly based on many conversations from her colleagues AND Argerich as well, Bach is one of Montero's tools for theory studies. Every musician lies about practicing scales - Argerich claims she never practices scales but I witnessed her warming up with some scales in the backstage in San Francisco. Richter lied about practicing more than 8 hours a day but his wife said otherwise. Montero is the same. She studies. She learns, analyzes and explores the world of theory. So yes, it was just an innocent lie 😂

I want to hear that whole improvisation by them! Is that available anywhere? Can you buy it? That short segment starting at 7:52 is so outrageously good, I need to hear where they take it further!

I wonder, is it her normal speed or were the improvisations accelerated?
