Kev, I love that your reviews and videos are focused on the affordable range of coffee gear and getting the most out of these items. They're a sorely needed cure for the common "upgrade-itis". Awesome content as always, and I appreciate the humor.

Kev, can you please explain more about the below mod? How can I remove the hopper & install the below? What should be the size of the below? How can it be mounted?
@Coffee_Kev
9 ай бұрын
I've had a play with modding the hopper to add bellows, and actually I don't think it's really needed. The majority of the retention appears to be in the chute, and pushing bellows doesn't actually appear to do a good job of moving them, just knocking the grinder over the top of the chute or just tilting the grinder and then putting it back flat seems to very easily get everything out of the chute.

Anyone tried the Geepas conical burr grinder that appears to be a copy of the Gaggia down to the same sized burrs. Goes for a lot less on Amazon.
@Coffee_Kev
8 ай бұрын
Yeah but what does Geepas rhyme with? 😆 I'm assuming it's the same base machine, there was another one too, the name escapes me at the minute but they were available before the MD15 and it looks identical. So I don't think it's a copy as such, I'm assuming they're all using the same base grinder, only assuming, I don't know. If you're in the UK then for me the main reason to go for the Gaggia over other branded options that appear to be identical would be the quality of Gaggia Direct's after sales service in the UK (if you buy from them or their resellers) and the fact that it comes with shims in the box. Ta, Kev.

Kev, if you were about to buy, would you go with a separate grinder and espresso machine, ie this MD15 and a Gaggia Classic, or a machine with an integrated machine like a Sage Barista Express/Pro? This for a fairly utilitarian user who just wants a decent espresso twice a day but doesn't want bean to cup.
@Coffee_Kev
9 ай бұрын
There are pros and cons for both, just depends on the user. If you're someone who's not going to be overly fussy about perfectly dialling in, integrated grinder machines are fine. If you're getting into the home barista hobby, the grinder is ultra important, so the ability to upgrade the grinder is a must. Cheers, Kev.

Hi :-). It's "OK", the grind by weight type feature is pretty good, but it kind of is what it is for that price. It won't grind fine enough for traditional baskets either, well the unit I have won't.
