I would give anything just to touch my son, however I will get to see some day. God says he will never give us more than we can handle and He will comfort us. I truly believe that. He carried when I couldn't stand the pain of losing my son. I love you more than life itself and I praise God for being with me.

That's how I feel about my daughter.. She would have been 11 years old but she was born a micropreemie and died at birth. This past Wednesday made 11 years since her birth/death. But I know I will see her again... My heart just gets very heavy this time of year...

That baritone is Michael Eldred. He actually sings lead like Michael English, and auditioned for the Vocal Band when Mike English did, but Mike English was selected instead of him. Mark Lowry evidently was absent.

An elderely gentleman would sing this at our church years ago. He would periation more powerfully every verse until the end when he would be singing with such passion. WOW! It was the most powerful thing I had ever heard. I can still remeber that church getting tore up by the end! Shouting and praising God every time he sang this song. I shall never forget!

@lgp1987 his name is Mike Eldred. He is an AMAZING vocalist....he subbed for Mark and Michael for sure....and if he never did, he CERTAINLY COULD HAVE subbed for Terry too! He's the only one among those I consider the "elite" male vocalists in Christian music to never do anything more than "session work." (perhaps he didn't WANT to) The "elite" male vocalists from that era (mid 80s through early 90s) were Michael English, Guy Penrod (also GVB), Marty McCall (of First Call), and Mike Eldred.

I've read some interesting comments here on this video. Here are my comments 1. This song sung by my third fave line-up is a great performance. And it's my first time hearing Mike the last part live in the 90s( I'm used to Penrod's live vocals). And Terry did a great job. I love him 2. Many GVB fans quickly noticed Mark's absence. Where was he? Was he doing his comedy gigs? 3. The fill-in is a man called Michael Eldred. According to what I've read in the comments, he auditioned for the lead part in 1985 after Gary went for baritone. But as we all know, Michael English was selected. I'm glad there's no hard feelings between them. Lol 3. Someone mentioned a song from one of Larnelle's albums where Eldred, English and GUY PENROD sing BVGs behind Harris. I NEED TO CHECK THAT OUT 4. There are 3 interesting cameos in this video: Howard and Vestal Goodman( she waves her handkerchief) as well as future GVB tenor, the talented Jonathan Pierce, whom I assume had left the Imperials at this point and would succeed Franklin the following year. I assume Bill discovered him in the choir( he's a little hard to spot) but I could be wrong...

Look at album liner notes from the 80s and early 90s, and you'll see the name "Mike Eldred" in there for BGVs quite a bit. My favorite in particular....from Larnelle Harris' "Songs, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs" album.....The song "Didn't You Know?" had a male trio doing BGVs on the final chorus..... Who was the trio? Mike Eldred, Guy Penrod, and Michael English. THOSE THREE backing up Larnelle Harris!!!! Now THAT was an amazing grouping of male vocalists!!!!

Joel Moyer “one year after” I get what you’re saying here but what encouragement would this comment bring. Voices change, some don’t. But the thing is being so full of compassion and love I guess it doesn’t really matter if his voice is best now or not. He sounds great still and if he doesn’t in the future, praise the Lord anyhow.

Great song! but i most say that this song is too much for Michael English, don't you see trying to reach those high notes? Of course for David Phelps is piece of cake but for him mmm Bill should've lowed the tone of this song so that michael would have to make that Big effort! Nevertheless his a great singer and touching testimony! =D

Alejandro Ferguson it's not that it's to high for him. He had a huge range back in the day. Honestly he tried to do to much on his verse he tried to hit to many big notes in that verse and strained and struggled the rest of the song.
