The difference between S24 units is crazy. Europe is paying more for an inferior device. Even crazier is the choice of such a small battery for Samsung. I can't imagine SONY is using a crossdimmensional future technology to be able to fit such a bigger battery in a similarly sized device.

This year the phones have been underwhelming. Whether budget or flagship. I do like Sony but sadly their auto mode is very, very far behind the competition at this price. They should have let the 1v be for the pros and make the 5v to compete with S24. To do that they should have had computational photography. I think the upcoming 1vi, 5vi and 10vi might be the last Sony phones we see. They must 40% sales last year. I have the 10iii and the cameras are good in sunlight but otherwise very poor. I've decided to go for iPhone because I just want cameras that are good, os support, hardware support and accessories. Apple has all that and best CPU. And where I live the S24 is €750 and the iPhone 14 is €739 and iPhone 13 is €619. No S23 on sale here. So it looks like iPhone 13 wins

People like to complain about Sony and their lack of update cycles when compared to others. What those people don't realize is Google some time back changed how the whole thing works, currently they're still updating your phone and it's most important features and security through Play Store updates. And those same updates keep coming even when you run out of official OS and security updates. A phone isn't obsolete and unusable when it's no longer updated to new android version. In fact I'd prefer being on an older OS verision, which lately seem to be more design chnages over anything (AI is not useful for me), than being updated to new android version with bugs which take a long time to fix. Pixels are a great example, they're THE phone for android and they're so buggy... Pixels now have 7 years of official update support but they're on HW that won't even last 3 years! I'd rather pick the phone that will survive longer with older SW, that's also way better spec (headphone jack, memory card!!!, no display cutout...) than something like the Pixel with inferior HW. And I side note, I absolutely love how Xperia has the older HW and it still beat the newest devices from the competitors, that says a lot.

Using a 2018 Sony Experia XZ2compact now. Was looking for a new phone but unfortunately Sony didn't pass my needs. Very unfortunate they dropped the 3th lens. Really was looking for a "compact" with better cameras. They also dropped the indicator light and the rear fingerprint sensor and pretty sure with tpu case the side sensor will be hard to use. Besides that it's big. Now mine is 5" screen. Compared today maybe 5.5 to get the same outer dimensions. Wish they still make smaller phones that don't pinch in my leg/hip while sitting. Best option was the S24 but also find out you are better of with the Snapdragon. So ordered it online in HK now and hope for the best. At least it surpasses the warranty period without problems. Sending it back probably isn't beneficial. To sony. Make 5.5 version. With indicator light on the front. Better cameras and software. At least 3x optical zoom. 2 or 3 cameras. 3.5mm jack not necessary for me as long it's supported by USB-C Keep the micro SD card. And longer security updates. Not necessarily new androids because that makes old phones worse. Liked my XZ2compact but it time to move on now. Battery life still Oke with all apps. Getting laggy because the apps are getting to big. Even after reset and installing the same it's not always great. Camera outdated. 19MP. Bad a darker scenes. Front cam not great. Also difficulties with low light. Form factor great. Fingerprint (rear) sensor great. Screenshot option on power menu button only great. Manual options camera nice. Notification led (color modes) perfect. Listen to your customers or your last marketshare will be lost too.

If we only could combine the strengths of those devices into one... I'd go for the S24 Snapdragon if we could get it here in Europe. However, I prefer Google's software experience. But the Pixel 8's performance is just disappointing. I'd also be very happy with the Xperia, if only software support was decent with at least 5 years of feature/security updates. Now I pray that my Pixel 6 Pro keeps working for another year (it has had serious issues for a while with the screen not turning on when it was getting slightly warm, probably a thermal or mechanical issue, or a combination of both), until the Pixel 9 Pro and Galaxy S25 could show if they could fix the issues of their predecessors. And to see if Sony eventually gets competitive with software support.

Hi Mo. Thanks for a great review, seen all your videos. Could you or anyone who has real life experience help me to choose a right phone ? The problem I have is that I can get S24 ultra and S24+ for the same price but there is a catch. S24U comes with 256gn storage and S24+ with 512 GB storage. Obviously it's a exy version. Thank you all

It is not surprising that the two Samsung-fabbed phones performed the worst. Despite Samsung-affiliated fans claiming it is now great, the fact is that it needs to be better, though obviously not the dumpster-diving mess the Exynos 2200 was. Anyone buying an Exynos should understand it has several negatives, and unless they are okay with those, it is best to give it a pass. These include a poor modem, poor thermals, and horrible efficiency, especially on more demanding tasks. Unfortunately, the SD S24 is now available in Europe, so anyone wanting a solid flagship compact phone should cross the S24 E2400 off the very shortlist. Sony has always been efficient, so no shock, and thankfully, they went with a non-Samsung-made chip.

The S24 with Exynos is a Scam. I mean its more expensive than the Pixel 8 (Google is using also Exynos) and performs only in Benchmarks better. Drains the small Battery nearly simmilar. Put in perspective the S24 costs nearly the same in both configurations and is much more than the Pixel 8. Always consider ur usage. The hard tests in youtube videos never represent real world usage.

So S24 SD or A55? Do you think the battery on the S24 will actually perform well until year 7 (aka end of life for software support)? Will the specs meet newer tech demands? Idk im kind of leaning A55 or A54.. but then again A55 isn't naturally available in the US so I'm not sure of the downsides of getting a Latin or Global version

Here in uk, s24 is cheaper than s23😂 that's probably because of the crap exynos os. Samsung is bitching out in the rest of the world apart from North America and China.

I would get an Xperia, i just don't get the name. They should give up and start with new name series, like Gen or xp starting over from 1 or where they arrived with device gen or do like Samsung and take the damn calendar

I hope there will be 5vi with a just dedicated zoomless added like the 70mm of the 5ii would be already better than having none. or maybe make it a dedicated 80 or 90mm. than the 5vi would be an amazing compact flagship. but i heard rumors that they stop the 5 series :S i hope the rumors are untrue

can eu sue samsung already please? When you go to s24's website, you cant even see what chip they contain. This must fall into false advertising that they pretend both versions are the same.

You should also probably mention (i may have not heard you mention it, if so thats on me) that the xperia display doesnt get as bright as the other ones, which imo is also a downgrade compared to e.g. samsung. Of course i know that for this test you set the brightness to be equal on all devices. Great video!
