I have that same rifle. Mine came with a surplus pistol grip included. I’m surprised yours didn’t come with one. I was smart and didn’t read the manual and used steel cased 223 Wolf ammo and now I have a broken shell stuck in the chamber. I couldn’t get it out myself so now I have to take it to a gunsmith. I got quoted around $100 to remove the broken shell. Lesson learned. Great video!!👍🏻

Oh snap! Well at least it didn’t break the extractor. Some folks have told me they shot steel case out of it with no problem. This may explain that why they don’t recommend steel case. Maybe it’s the tolerances in the chamber. Thanks for sharing, sad that happened but at least now people know what may happen when you try and shoot steel out of it. Have you tried using a cleaning rod to poke it out?
@RV-ds5uf

@@BattlefieldCurator yeah I tried using a cleaning rod but no luck. I even tried using a broken shell extractor but that didn’t help either. That casing is really stuck in there. I figured it would handle steel cased ammo no problem since it was an ak type platform but guess not….🤷🏻♂️😁

I ordered one after missing out in the past 15+ years( sold out, or to much $) MY order came with a shooters upgrade in the battle field pick up look. Thank you Classic firearms. The hard case was replaced with a carbine length tacticle soft case. Saves me from buying one. Needs a complete cleaning then test fire. I also replace the night sights with newer ones from Amazon for the IMI galil to bring it back to spec.

You CAN shoot steel cased .556, just not steel cased .223. They recommend standard mil-spec .556 ammo.

@@BattlefieldCurator Possibly a video on whether or not the M1 Garand is viable for "watering the tree of liberty", if you catch my drift. I just got one from the CMP and even though I have an AR, I would like to at least have the knowledge that the Garand would be a good backup.

Hmm, I’ve used steel cased ammo in mine. Wolf, tula and Barnaul. Eats it like nothing out of 200 steel cased rounds I’ve used. I’ve only had 1 problem and it was a failure to extract. Casing was stuck in the chamber but I got it out with a cleaning rod no problem

Enjoy the series you are making on the JRA Gallant. Looks like a cool firearm and has a interesting history. Unfortunately Classic is sold out. In your opinion is it worth the price? Thanks in advance.

Classic will get them back in stock every so often, I just happened to check their site more frequently lately and saw it one day. They are hot sellers so they were sold out within a day or so. Yes, it is definitely worth that! Some of my other friends agree it’s worth that as well!

@@Collectorfirearms alright… my guess is that it will work but maybe JRA doesn’t want to take the blame of something breaks. So they say not to use it and if it broke, it may not be under warranty. Another guess would be that they did test it with steel case and something went wrong. I’d be cautious though, on the information sheet provided it says in big letters “DO NOT USE STEEL CASED .223 AMMO IN THIS RIFLE!” but I didn’t see any reason why.

Some people said they have shot steel from it with no problem but I saw in a FB group one guy did and his rifle got messed up after a few hundred rounds. It’s a risk you’d have to be willing to take and for a 1k gun made from hard to find surplus parts, I wouldn’t want to take that risk.

This is a review of a Galil and not a JRA Gallant? You keep calling it a Galil (and you're even pronouncing it wrong).
@BattlefieldCurator
2 жыл бұрын
A lot of folks know this weapon system as a Galil, but after the receiver and rebuild, JRA has to call it a Gallant for trademark issues (if I recall in referencing to one of Classic Firearms videos). Same reason why ATI would call theirs Galeo and not a Galil. And yes, I am aware I pronounced it wrong, my bad.

Subscribed! Nice editing and great review. Short and to the point without any boring "filler". Btw, The dude that commented about how you pronounce "galil" sounds like he's the "cool guy" at the range who corrects people for calling a magazine a clip. Or he's the dude that shames people for having a CCW for under $1000 dollars. He says stuff like "would you trust your life or your family's life with that..." while he's open carrying a full-size Sig with micro red dot and mag extension. All the while his wife's at home bangin his brother. Lol What a tool 😂
