@istilldontknowmyname7324
3 жыл бұрын
@A A we all consider crimes as bad as they are to our morales and we all don't condemn all crimes. You literally just did it by creating a difference between 'necessary crimes' (that I think you'd condomn) and 'unnecessary crimes' (that you wouldn't). For all of us crime is bad if doesn't line up with our morals (by saying that a certain crime is necessary you're justifying it cause it lines up with your morals; but it's still a crime and with that mentality it's still wrong no matter what. You're just deciding that -for example- stealing food isn't wrong, and that's because your morals, the environment and the society you grew up in say so). Something is considered a crime in accord to the common sense of a society, but that changes from place to place and time to time (laws can be abolished and what's legal in france isn't in Poland). If you say that he'd will someone if that would line up with his morals, I's say that that's as true as it is for everyone else. If you adopte this mentality, we would all kill someone if his death was justifiable with our morals. Ffs some States still have the death penalty, even in the usa! And 'his moral are not structured in the same way other are: the show is called shameless, the moral of the characters are in line with people living in the ghetto in misery, things that are in line with their morals won't be in line with ours (the example I made before, people than never starved will cross the line at 'stealing food is bad', because their environment tought them that). There's no such thing as 'morals of the avarage person', it all depends on the environment. Everything is potentially justifiable. If you want me to be more specific you need to address exactly the 'unnecessary crimes' you say he committed; I still hope that you understand what I'm saying. It's currently 1:26 and I know I could explain myself better in another moment ahaha
@istilldontknowmyname7324
3 жыл бұрын
@A A I understand your point but I just wanna say a few things more. First of all "It will always be illegal to murder someone", that hasn't always been the case and still isn't (I don't know how many states in the word have the death penalty, but it still exists, even in the Usa). Second thing, he blew up the van during a bipolar episod when he wasn't in control of his actions. He wasn't thinking straight and we can't really blame him. I've heard of people who have done some serious crazy-bad-stuff during their episodes, and we can't consider them responsable of their actions if they didn't even know what they were doing in the first place (because that's the thing with bipolar disorder and other deseases). I still think that he wouldn't kill someone, and if you think that he could do that during a bipolar episode with his meds off, that wouldn't really be him. One last thing, you said it's late in your country too so goodnight :)

I mostly take Terry's homophobia as something he retained as part of his neo-Nazism identity he held for so long after he murdered his former Jewish girlfriend's father. Back in the Holocaust, Nazis executed individuals who were homosexual, so when he became a neo-Nazi himself, he probably started finding non-heterosexuals uncomfortable and something he cannot tolerate whatsoever. 🙁

I don't understand why people don't talk about this scene more. It casts a completely new light on Terry Milkovitch, and reframes him as a tragic character. He's not inherently evil: all this time, he was heartbroken, and the only way he found to deal with the pain was to turn to hatred. It seems like he got sucked in a downward spiral. It does not excuse his terrible behaviour, but it helps to explain and understand it better.
