@MedicalCentric

@mohammedtaheeradam624 The growth of a gallbladder polyp from 9mm to 13mm in a year is something that definitely requires close attention. Polyps larger than 10mm are often monitored more closely, as they have a higher potential for being or becoming malignant. It’s important to discuss this change with your healthcare provider, as they may recommend further evaluation, such as imaging studies or even surgery, to ensure your health and safety.

@MedicalCentric
Ай бұрын
@michaelfleming9657 Before your gallbladder surgery, the medical team will discuss all the procedures with you, including the possibility of a catheter. If you're uncomfortable, it's important to express your concerns; they can often accommodate requests like wearing an adult nappy. As for the polyps, they usually send them to pathology after removal to determine if they are cancerous, with results typically shared later. Don’t hesitate to discuss all your concerns with your surgeon during the pre-op appointment.

Gallbladder polyps are small growths that can develop on the inner lining of the gallbladder. Polyps smaller than 6 mm are often considered to be of low concern, but their management can vary depending on the individual and specific circumstances. It's not uncommon for gallbladder polyps to change in size over time. Some may grow, while others may shrink or remain stable. The reduction in size from 6 mm to 2 mm is a positive sign, but it's essential to continue monitoring them with the guidance of your healthcare provider. Gallbladder polyps can be caused by various factors, including cholesterol buildup or inflammation. In some cases, they may disappear on their own, especially if they are small. However, it's crucial to have regular follow-up appointments with your healthcare provider to track any changes and ensure that the polyps are not causing any issues or becoming malignant. Your healthcare provider will assess the size, number, and characteristics of the polyps to determine the appropriate course of action, which may include continued monitoring, further imaging, or, in some cases, surgery. It's essential to follow your healthcare provider's recommendations and maintain good communication with them regarding your gallbladder health.

I don't think removing will be recommended with small polyps unless if symptomatic
@MedicalCentric
11 ай бұрын
The decision to remove the gallbladder when polyps are present is typically made based on several factors, including the size of the polyps, the number of polyps, and whether they are causing symptoms. Small polyps (a few millimeters in size) are often considered low risk for developing into gallbladder cancer. In many cases, they may not require surgery. However, if the polyps are large, numerous, causing symptoms, or if there is any suspicion of malignancy, a healthcare professional may recommend surgical removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy) to prevent potential complications or further evaluation to rule out cancer. It's crucial to have a thorough discussion with your healthcare provider to assess your specific situation, risks, and benefits of gallbladder removal, and make an informed decision based on your individual medical history and condition.

@MedicalCentric
Жыл бұрын
if you have been diagnosed with multiple gallbladder polyps, including one with a feeding vessel, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional, preferably a gastroenterologist or hepatobiliary specialist. They will be able to provide you with the most appropriate advice based on your specific situation. In general, the management of gallbladder polyps depends on various factors such as the size of the polyps, the presence of symptoms, and the risk of malignancy. Polyps smaller than 1 centimeter (10 mm) are often considered low risk, while larger polyps or those with certain characteristics may require closer monitoring or intervention. Your healthcare provider may recommend periodic imaging tests, such as ultrasound or abdominal CT scans, to monitor the growth and changes in the polyps over time. In some cases, if the polyps are larger or there is concern for malignancy, they may recommend surgical removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomy). It's important to have a thorough discussion with your healthcare provider who has access to your complete medical history and test results. They will be able to provide you with the most appropriate recommendations and guide you on the best course of action.

If you have been diagnosed with both gallstones and gallbladder polyps, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional for guidance and advice tailored to your specific condition. The appropriate management and treatment options can vary depending on the size and number of polyps, the presence of symptoms, and other individual factors. Your healthcare provider can help you make an informed decision regarding whether gallbladder removal (cholecystectomy) is necessary, or if a more conservative approach, such as dietary changes or medication, may be suitable. They will consider your unique medical history and symptoms to provide the most appropriate recommendations for your case. Always seek medical advice from a qualified healthcare expert for your specific situation.
