Thankyou so much for this...it really is deja vu for me...grew up watching the Galloping Gourmet at the age of 5 or 6 years old. Started life long love if cooking and cooking shows.

LOL My parents knew someone who was crew on his show. The glass actually contained REAL Wine. Since multiple shows were taped in a day. As the shooting day progressed, the consumption of wine continued, if you watch carefully, you can tell at what time of the shotting day the episode was filmed, if it was one of the last shows of the day, he is completely snockered.

I remember my Mother, putting off her heavy drinking, to watch this show. She never made any of his food, but, I think, was in love with him, in some part of her boozed up brain.

It was a 3 part BBC programme from 2002 called The Way We Cooked about tv chefs. Episode one talked about Fanny Craddock and Graham Kerr. It should be on KZitem.
