During game jams, students acquire practical skills in programming, design, and project management while working towards specific and measurable goals. They also integrate theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience, enhancing engagement and motivation. The outcome is not only new games but also valuable experience and strengthened competencies needed in the gaming and technology industries. During this talk, we wil discuss how game jams can be used as an educational tool to acquire various soft skills.
BIO:
Magdaléna Švecová, PhD. is a head of digital games department at Faculty of Mass Media Communication at UCM Trnava. She focuses on educational potential of digital games and responsible game development.
Alexandra Rysuľová, PhD. is an assistant professor at the Department of Digital Games and focuses on the intersection of digital games, virtual worlds, and education. She has been involved in several projects, including creating a virtual version of the FMK faculty in Second Life, which is used for teaching and student presentations.
Michal Kabát, PhD. is an assistant profesor at the Department of Digital Games and foceses on emerging technologies and local game history of Eastern Europe.
