Ned did not execute the guy in the 1st episode for lying, he execute him for desertion. As Warden of the North was his job to uphold the King's laws, and follow through with the punishments, whether he agreed or not.

The Ranger he executed had very good reason and to desert and Ned refused to believe him even after Benjen vouching for him. Ned died because he did not heed the counsel of anyone around him. He asked for it and then promptly disregarded it. Bran asking Ned about the possibility of the Ranger telling the truth and Ned’s prompt dismissal is a foreshadowing of his demise. He finishes the episode by dismissing his wife’s sound judgement in the crisis they are facing at the end of the first episode of the series.

@@TwerpXNation I believe the biggest problem with Ned was to keep the appearance of an honorable man who (almost) always follows the law. Eventhough he is on the good side from the viewers perspective he is more like a lawful neutral guy than a lawful good person, because he chooses to rather stick to rules than doing the right or necessary thing to do.

Jon taking Stannis’ offer would effectively make him an “Oath-breaker”. His character would come into question, even if being released from his vows was legal. It’s like a person vowing “til death do us part”, filing for divorce, and remarrying. He vows “til death do us part” again but no one believes him for obvious reasons 😂

The show had someone specialized in making up languages for TV and Movies which kept the consistency of the “foreign languages” every time characters speak them. Yes, I can’t believe that’s a real job either.

As a member of the nights watch you are bound for life and cannot desert the wall, which is what ned killed the guy in the beginning for, not for lying. Valar dohaeris means "all men must serve"

Daenerys was speaking in Low Valyrian. It is a dialect of her native tongue High Valyrian. It is the in-universe equivalent of Latin. A language lost to time after the fall of Rome and High Valyrian was lost after the Doom of Valyria 400 years prior. The Targaryens fled to and conquered Westeros before because of the Doom so they are the only ones who still speak High Valyrian. It’s also the language they use to train their dragons. Hence Dracarys “dragonfire” being the word she uses to command them to burn stuff.

Sadly, Daenerys wouldn’t be able to give Jon a kid after that blood magic ritual she agreed to “save” Drogo’s life. Those dragons are her children now and all who call her Mhysa.

No Tay, Ned beheaded that guy from The Nights Watch because he deserted The Wall, not because he thought he lied. He swore an oath to be there for life. Desertion is punishable by death and since Ned was The Warden Of North, he had to uphold the laws of the Kingdom…an oath is an oath.

Dany being told to be measured in her response and her idea is hold a trial instead of outright execution. Then before the trial the suspect is executed without her consent and she responds by... executing the guy who defied her. This season is really working her.

I see Tay picked up on Drogon being named after Drogo. Daenerys’ other 2 dragons Viserion and Rhaegal are named after her late brothers Viserys and Rhaegar. It shows that she still loved Viserys, despite his mistreatment of her. Such a contrast to Cersi who always takes the chance to put her brothers down.

Dany always seems to be in a struggle between the diplomatic approach and demonstrating her power and command. Her trusted advisors temper her emotional reactions, while others encourage her to embrace her power and intimidate. I don’t think she made a wise choice here.
