I played for like 5 hours and got bored. The unnecessary grinding and forced sidequests, not to mention the tedious task of spotting the enemies one by one with the eagle was a pain. The combat was clunky and not fun, and i hate Dark Souls for the same reason. When every enemy you face HAS to be this epic duel to the death, it becomes a chore after a while, not to mention wasting my time. And speaking of wasted time, all that grinding the game forces me to do was tiresome. If i play an AC game, i expect to deal death to my enemies from the shadows, not to hunt animals and wander around aimlessly for an hour trying to figure out something FUN to do and grinding my level so that the regular guards won't kick my ass. The game was not fun in the beginning, so how do they expect me to keep playing any further?

@Mate397

Isn't it just so convenient how these politically correct stuff just so happen to pop up as time goes on? You do realise that back in ancient times women weren't allowed to do many things, ranging from combat to politics.
@DMurphysLore
6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm sure the Romans were just planting gladiatrix skeletons with full paraphernalia, cackling to themselves all the while. "Ohoho, Alexandrius. You understand not the joke now, but approximately two-thousand years from now, this shall tie in nicely with the SJW agenda!" Evidence doesn't stop being evidence just because it conflicts with how you imagine history to be. Yes, women were not allowed to do a great many things in the Roman era -- it is, however, an error in thinking to go 'Welp, women couldn't do anything, full stop, they stayed at home and weaved.' History is rarely so neat and orderly. In the case of Rome, the divisions of gender were less important than the division between 'equites' 'civitas' and 'infames.' Gladiators were, by law, all 'infames,' -- to fight in the arena automatically diminished your status to that of an infames. And women who were infames had much more freedom in how they acted than women who were civitas, or who were the wives of equites (who were all male). For the Romans, it was entirely palatable, even titillating, for two infames women to fight -- the unspoken rules that governed what infames could or could not do were not the same as that of citizens or nobility. Cassius Dio, writing favourably about Emperor Titus, talks about how he used many female gladiators, but he's quick to point out that Titus' gladiators were all infames, and Titus didn't indulge in the habits of other emperors by demeaning himself to fight in the arena. Female gladiators were just not that controversial. Sorry if that contradicts what Hollywood has told you, but the truth doesn't change just because you think it should. tl;dr: Read a fucking book, you blithering idiot.
@Mate397
6 жыл бұрын
Because faking/misinterpriting historical evidence totally never was a thing. Just saying, and no I don't get my history from Hollywood, besides why on Earth would anyone want women to fight to the death in an arena? If anything slave servants make far more sense for lower class women if you want to go with that. I highly doubt female gladiators could provide the same entertainment as males could.
@DMurphysLore
6 жыл бұрын
Ah, yes. "Hmm. I didn't know this fact ... is it possible that I just didn't know something ... No. No, it must be a conspiracy. They're faking it all, I say!" Also, you talk about faking or misinterpreting evidence, but that would require multiple different sources stretching back decades to fake or misinterpret: Human remains, artwork, inscriptions literally carved in stone (such as one referring to a local magistrate's ruling in favour of 'women of the sword'), and the writings of numerous different people over the course of centuries. Also, hey. Hey. I'm going to let you in on a little secret: Lower class women were also slaves. And servants. There were, in fact, quite a lot of lower class women, and they didn't all do the same thing. Also, I like how you go "Why would anyone want women to fight to the death in an arena?!" as if wanting men to fight to the death in an arena is a normal thing, but women? "Pshaw, everyone knows that women die in far less entertaining ways! I, Mate397, should know." Here's another secret for you: The Romans were a decadent, entertainment-obsessed people who *thrived* off lavish spectacle, and arena battles were less about 'wooo, yeah, murder!' (and, in fact, most gladiators didn't die in the arena) and more about theatre and athleticism. Taking the case of bestiarii, where we have writers talking about female bestiarii felling lions, the feat of killing a lion is really equally as impressive whether you're a man or a woman (and also not that impressive in general, given how controlled the environment of the arena often was). Look. Clearly you are of a delicate disposition, and I can see this is difficult for you to cope with, but I need you to know that I don't care, and you learning new things is not proof of a ~conspiracy~ by historians and archaeologists. They aren't out to get you. It's okay.
@Mate397

Ah, gotta love the "clearly you're wearing a tinfoil hat" thing to make yourself sound so smart huh? Yes but Gladiatrix were very rare to the point there are few notes about then, in fact there are no surviving records of how they were trained. Point is, for a very long time women were discriminated and this should be reflected in any attempt of historical accuracy, not inject 20th century sensibilities into it because at one point your own propaganda will became true and the errors of the past will be ... rewritten.
@Thylonicus
6 жыл бұрын
That may not be true, interestingly. There's evidence that suggests we may simply not *have* the data, but that it might have existed. References in other works of the era, statues, and other minor things are causing historians to rethink the role of the Gladiatrix. In general, women were second-class citizens, quite true, but there are historians who suggest even that may not have been as extreme as we'd thought. Like everything else dealing with history, it's an ongoing process as new data is discovered, and old data is filtered through new data.

The thing is that the games follow real world logic that DNA degrades after every few generations and that they will need older DNA samples to go further back which is why after Desmond’s death Abstergo can’t go back any further because they don’t have any DNA to use to go further back. Hence why Abstergo in modern day isn’t a threat and haven’t gotten anymore pieces of Eden. With the DNA from the spear of Leonidas they can track the bloodline even further back now.

Climbing has improved Exploration has greatly improved Much of the discoverable lore is interesting Tombs are cool I still like hunting stuff to upgrade my gear Graphics are amazing Little touches help immersion greatly Side Quests usually involve killing people, but there are some interesting ones Phylakes are pretty cool to fight and rewarding. Story still sucks and is weird, but I like Byaek. Combat is pretty poor, cheap clone of Dark Souls. I eventually checked out of the story, but was greatly invested in exploring region by region. I’ve also not really run into any bad bugs which is weird. While it has its flaws, It’s much better and a return to form for the series. I look forward to the next one.

- I have glitched through the wall more than I did in any other AC game. And every time when I get out, somehow, it ends up with Bayek dying so I need to do stuff all over again. Not to mention that since you can climb almost anything, infiltration has been reduced to nothing. There is way too little patrol and way to many entrance points to make infiltration a challenge. - It's nice that you get to investigate stuff like you could in AC Syndicate. Minus deduction which is a bummer. - Lore might be curious but there is no codex to investigate ancient Egypt further. Tours are lacking. - You would think that the tombs would have some puzzles or traps inside to get to the inner chambers. All really comes down to killing cobras, breaking some walls and pushing some obvious shelves because of the floor "railing" doesn't let you go wherever you want and you don't have to think hard about where to go. Tombs like in AC2 or AC:B where better made since it required some skill with timed puzzle sections. - Hunting is fine. It has more purpose than AC3 at least. Praise the lord. - The game is pretty. - Little touches are okay, I guess? Still can't pet all the cats running around, grrrr. And funner parts of assassination have been taken out, like cover kills. - Majority of quest comes down to save someone from a fort. There is some interesting bits but since side quest don't get much of a spot light individually, I really can't keep track of all the quest givers. Not to mention that, since there is no time limits from what I have seen, you can just leave the area and do some other quests even when Bayek is terrified that a child might be dying. A bit strange change design choice. - Didn't fight Phylakes yet. - Bayek is great. His desire to help others and love for children shines through. Pity that he has to see so many of them murdered because Ubisoft needed to traumatize the guy as much as possible. - Story telling is very odd. It's really hard to roleplay as the game starts with confusing you by having Bayek murdered someone after a time skip when he grew a beard. - Didn't play Dark Souls. Combat is okay, I suppose. But I buy AC games to assassinate people from the shadows and not to fight in an arena. Since the assassination related techniques seems lacking in this game and skill tree is mostly combat related, I think that their focus was in the wrong place. It's a good game as far as RPG goes but it doesn't feel like an assassination game that much anymore. But hey, it seems that people love it so I guess EA will continue that route. I guess I will have to see where focus in Odyssey lays.

Normally love these videos but in this case a lot of your criticisms stem from YOU simply not understanding what is presented. It’s really odd how people are willing to suspend belief for some properties and not others. Do you really need a logical explanation of how certain things work the way they do in a franchise that explores things like the mythical properties of the apple of eden? Go pick up some non-fiction if you need sensible answers for everything. This video demonstrates a complete misunderstanding of most of the story elements that are being criticized. Is it an amazing story? No. Is it good enough and very well executed? Yes. Story wise it’s on par with anything else out there with the exception of games that are almost single handedly famous for their narratives.

I get that these videos are supposed to be satire but some of these sins make it seem like he actually has no fucking clue what he's talking about. If you're gonna try to be funny, make good points. Not sure if they did it on purpose, but they got the pharaohs all jacked up in the DLC. They got Queen Nefertit and Pharaoh Akhenaten, who actually ruled together, but they didn't really put any ties to King Tut. Tutankhamun was the son of Akhenaten and ruled Egypt after him. Then they skip way down to Ramesses The Great, who is Ramesses II. They missed Pharaoh Horemheb who reigned after Tut. Horemheb destroyed the city of Akhenaten and tried to blot his name from history. Then you still have Ramesses I, father of Ramesses The Great, who reigned after Horemheb and before his son. I understand that they picked Pharaohs that did good for Egypt, but I feel they kind of missed out on some story leaving out a Pharaoh that tried to destroy it

Maybe one day when a company decides to spend 7 years on a game just tweaking little things in it, maybe. Bruh you're talking about shit that can't really be done yet with current tech. You'll need one of those super computers that extremely hard-core pc gamers have with like 3 gpus and 128 gigs of ram and shiz. There's no way that you can have a world with the size, quality and variation of AC Origins and still have that smaller stuff. I'm surprised they even paid so much attention to the fire stuff in the game
@shane2863

I have an issue with this too but I don’t expect it to be corrected any time soon. Even the most insane tech demos feature various forms of clipping. However if you look at any of their top 10-100 lists, you’ll find that most if not all games on said lists are very good and deserve their spot. To this day IGN has never given out a perfect 10 that I’m aware of. I believe 9.8 is the highest score they’ve given and it was for one of the metal gear solid games if I’m not mistaken. The idea that it’s easy to get top tier rating is asinine. There’s no evidence for that anywhere.

Uh actually in AC Rogue, there was only ever a message that said "William Miles is dead", there was no video or audio of his death so it was debatable at best as to his status. But then if u dug further there was another text that said "Williams Miles is alive". He probably falsely reported his fate to throw Abstergo off. Get your facts straight. Its on the wiki.
