I recommend unplugging the battery for future reference. Change the thermal paste with Honeywell PTM7950 phase-change material is more thermally conductive than the best pastes. Undervolting CPU and GPU + lowering or completely disabling turbo boost. There will be less throttling and give more fps, plus it will be quieter, cooler and the laptop will draw fewer watts from the socket.

@@pdavid1758 I've done a lot of research at the time and you are losing performance because you are half crippling your cpu. The manufacturer set that option to be enabled by default for a reason and I do not recommend turning off turbo boost. Bottom line, you will be gaining a noticeable performance lost if you turn it off.

The thermal paste is not dried up, it’s called a phase changing thermal paste. It is solid when cool and liquid when hotter than 50 degrees. It is used in consoles and Laptops because it lasts much longer. Normal thermal paste only lasts for a few months in a Laptop.

because you dont need to, you only need to clean the top of cpu n gpu, the shiny part. if you try to clean the paste that overflowed onto the sides, you can damage the small capacitors , even if you are careful enough n clean it all, it serves no purpose and makes no difference.

it’s not dry, its a phase changing thermal paste. It gets liquid when it heats up over 50 degrees and becomes solid when cold. If you do replace it, use a phase changing thermal paste aswel! in Laptops normal thermal paste will only last you 2-6 months.

Sure, if the fan cables ain't removed then tell me how do you remove the heatsink? 🗿 There's not many laptop that have its fans' housing to be separated from the heatpipe system. There is also very little laptop variations that lets you remove the fans without needing to remove the heatpipes first.🗿 What you suggest is true, it is to eliminate any lingering electricity that may still be around after removing the battery. But that doesn't mean you can't remove the fan's cables. 🗿

if your temps are under 96 degrees on cpu I wouldn’t. Yes 96 seems hot but these chips can handle up to 105 degres with no problem at all. My gf runs her laptop up to 100 degrees every day since 4 years and it’s still absolutely fine. The paste in this video was not dry. It’s a common misconception. Laptops and consoles use a phase changing thermal paste. It gets liquid when hotter than 50 degres and solid when cool. It is designed to last for 6-10 years. Unlike normal thermal paste wich only lasts you a few months in a laptop or a console (due to thermal cycling). You will definitely loose your warranty if you do this. use a laptop stand for better ventilation under it (easy 10 degrees cooler) and maybe consider undervolting before you do this. Once the warranty is gone you can change it but make sure to use a phase changing thermal paste if you don’t want to repaste it every few months.
