The G704 was my first Ganzo knife. The axis lock was WICKED stiff when I got it but that has since settled down. I was so pleased with this Ganzo that I eventually bought three more, different, Ganzo knives. I think they're just fine and a great value. Thanks for this video.

Been carrying a G704 for several months, great knife for the price! Just need to grind the pointy pocket clip to a nice low profile rounded point otherwise it will scratch the hell out of anything you rub against. I choose the orange because of the bright color, easy to find in the woods if I drop it, plus it's the perfect companion for my Cabela's Leatherman Charge Plus with G10 orange scales 👍😉

I personally am a big fan of Ganzo folding knives. I have the G704, G710, G711, G712, G714; all is really good and can easily sold up to 3 times from their original price and still considered a worth purchase. The edge retention, scales, lock up, opening, fit and finish, damn... Amazing quality for the price, seriously!

Ordered my first one....The Bedlam Clone. It's rattling around somewhere in Hong Kong on its way according the GearBest tracker. They give you a picture of your (actual) package, I saw my name/address on it. This is a good test purchase. A slightly smaller Bedlam copy for $18? What's not to love? Will be cool alongside my real Bedlam to compare and or as a novelty. I could see buying 10-15 different of these as a set. Good vid, makes me feel less weird for buying $18 knives from China !

Good review on a great budget work knife. It's a winner! About the color blue in knife scales: I use to so agree with you - why does every knife maker under the sun decide to make their scales in baby sky blue? I could never understand it. The only knife I own that has an attractive royal (or as you would call it police blue) is an Opinel Trekker, which I have since continue to repaint in a similar color. By know, though, I own 4 knives with baby blue handles, and I guess I've just learned to accept them, as they're favorites of mine, otherwise. I'll tell you one thing: any knife color has got to be better than that atrocious Spyderco "Blurple." I wonder what other folks think of it. 👍

+WeAllJuggleKnives Dang son.... I know it's probably not THAT high for a lot of knives, but it does show that there definitely is a lot of profit especially in a lot of the big company production knives. I have only been sort of into knives a bit since maybe 2008 or so, but I don't think a lot of people appreciate the quality of knife the average Joe can get these days for basically no money. Sure they are made in China, but I don't personally care about that.

+TheIrcbully It wouldn't have a benchmade logo of it. I have a different Ganzo and in hand feels like a $20 knife. The steel sucks and the liners feel like they are going to cut you. Its also pretty bulky. The "axis" lock is fun to play with. Now I want the real thing!

The G727M no question. The flat grind drop point blade is much better IMHO. When deployed the thumb jimping nicer and the finger choil is better. The G704 blade is a spear point and the blade is thicker, a hollow grind. Quality of both is good.

I feel bad for the blue Ganzo knife, it didn't ask to be made in that shade of blue. Then you went and segregated it from the others. I mean put yourself in the blue knifes place for a second, fully capable of the same cutting tasks of the other more "appealing" colored Ganzo knives but it's being persecuted by the cold blooded knife reviewer. Just when I thought we were making progress in our society then I find out blue Ganzo knives are being oppressed and "held down". I won't fret, for I see a day when blue Ganzo knives will slice and stab along side of red, black and olive drab ones. I see a day when blue Ganzo knives will be standard in the rotation of EDC's across the world. Take action, support blue Ganzo knives now by going out and buying one from Amazon and end this atrocity.

I saw a test on one of these not long ago where the blade was buttoned through wood and it held up, however, the stop pin on this knife is actually a hollow tube and the force of the battening actually deformed the hollow tube enough so that it split. If it was a solid stop pin, it would likely be a real workhorse of a knife. Personally, I do avoid knives from that company and a few other Chinese companies because despite whatever agreements they made, they still so tend to blatantly copy certain knife makers designs to such a degree that the parts are interchangeable. Case in point is the H&K you showed along side this. I bet the handles and parts will interchange with the Ganzo, and what bugs me about it is, if there is a guy who invented a design and should get credit for the design, companies like this just copy it exactly and that inventor gets nothing for his invention. Basically, as far as I am concerned, if someone is going to invest their time designing and going through all the proper channels to file a patent, so that he gets credit and money for inventing something that benefits the rest of us, he should be compensated for it, otherwise, why bother? I like to encourage people to invent and innovate. In a nutshell, thats my issue with these Chinese companies. Obviously, China has zero concern for intellectual property and is only concerned with making money, at all costs. Further, the people of China have a different lifestyle than us, and lets say you work in an office in China and the office downsizes and lets you go. Instead of collecting unemployment like we do here, the people there are told that they will now report to manufacturing building #8 and such and such address for money. They will report to the building and unskilled people are put on a basic assembly line and they put parts together and the stuff they make ends up being packed up in container ships and bid on by larger companies who want these goods. These items are what we see in the 99 cent stores. If the workers skills improve, they move up the assembly line and get more and more complex work and higher pay. Eventually, if they so well enough and demonstrate a particularly good skill and quality level, they may be lucky enough to get to work in the plant that makes the Tenacious or even the high end plants like in Taiwan called Taiching. That plant makes things of amazing quality that rivals Chris Reeves manufacturing, but of course, at a much lower pay rate than their US counterparts. In a way, its smart for countries like China to do this, because it keeps the masses employed and keeps their skills honed and they get the benefit of selling off everything they make. But us? Our laid off employees sit at home and collect money until it runs out and then they start looking for work, and never developing any new skills. Thats really why I prefer to buy US made things, because I don't like supporting Chinese labor market while our own people are getting let go left and right. To me, the cost savings of buying the Chinese stuff is hurting our own people who could use all the support they could get, even if the items are double and triple the cost. Sorry for the long post.

+mindsmirror In my experience with Ganzo knives, they are not the dendritic cryo-treated 440c of a custom knife, but more of the poorly heat treated, laser cut 440c of a mass produced chinese steel that is not entirely unlike 8cr13mov. The steel rolls, the tip deforms, the edge does not last, in short the steel is like an insecure dog in constant need of attention.

+Dennis Bible What do you want instead? A liner lock? I like that other types of locks can basically get copied and used if they were good. There is enough patent trolling in the U.S.A. If only BenchMade could use that lock forever we would miss out as consumers. You want a superior version of the lock then yeah, just buy a high end BenchMade.
@Player_Review
9 жыл бұрын
+martinaee The patent on the axis lock actually expired in April, is my understanding (after the oddly defined 17 year patent law). That said, I prefer to give my money to those that truly innovate. It is still trademarked, but there are subtle variations in the lock that differentiate it from Benchmade, while they could potentially still get in trouble if they couldn't prove it to be a 'better' design... laws are complicated. Liner lock and frame lock weren't patented. Just like Tesla, Chris Reeve chose not to patent [the frame lock], so we all benefit. Compression lock, ball bearing lock (powerlock), triad lock and some others still fall under patent and do not fall under the umbrella of this video. TBH, I am not overly angry of their benchmade clone since like other chinese companies, they've not put the actual benchmade trademarked name and logos on the blades. These are Ganzos, and they aren't pretending they aren't. Kudos to them for only going into the grey of the black/white world of copying.

+Ryan Ho I'm not sure if it is a bead blast or just a grey coating, it feels too smooth to be a bead blast.

Cool knife - pocket clips sucks, like a dummy I was waxing my car with my 704 in my front pocket and scratched the hell out my paint with pointy pocket clip.

"The lock is basically an axis lock" and the entire knife is basically unoriginal and copied. I like most of your vids, but no Ganzo, Enlan or Sanjia knives please?

+Jeremy Madsen Ganzo reviews are going to continue, and part of the reason is that they help people on a budget, the other part is that several youtubers who are more successful than myself feature Ganzo knives - I am in this community and abide by the standards of this community, so if it is okay for LateBoyScout and Jeff to review Ganzos, then it is okay for me.

+WeAllJuggleKnives Thanks for the reply. I honestly do respect you and your reviews/services a ton. We're billions of people, so occasionally people like me will pop out of the woodwork that disagree with a thing or two. Definitely going to remain a subscriber and watch the videos which are for me (99% of your uploads). Keep up the good work, also, I'm a Utah guy where most these youtubers live and frequent some of the same places. You really ALL do a valuable service and again, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to personalize a response for me and those very few that might feel like I do about the companies like these that 'borrow' a lot of ideas (I know plenty of companies are unoriginal). I don't have a ton of money, but have dumped $700 on blades in the past couple months, so I probably have more than some. You've really educated me that of 8 billion or whatever amount of people, there are a substantial lot that really need these budget videos, even if the producers are not innovative, the blades still cut.
