Wonderful work. Thank you for sharing your skills. I am getting some salmon and burbot skin for my sheaths and came across your video as I was searching for people who have made fish leather sheaths. Respect for "I am proud of everything that comes out of my shop. If I am not proud, I don't send it out." That little boy is growing up in a good place. I like his spontaneity in doing things. Mine is sort of the same age and fiddles around with my stuff. Every time I make something, he is like, "Is that for me?" He is getting his hand forged and handmade scout knife and sheath kit next year. We both are looking forward to it, for different reasons :-D Be well and stay safe mate!

I bark tanned a catfish skin once.( and a big Northern Pike) It turn out really good. Still very thin, but surprisingly strong. It was very very soft and pliable, which is not what I expected from a bark tanned skin. Of course all the color was lost in both skins and now has the color of the bark tea, but they are still very cool. Next I will try tanning some grass carp.

Without CC, this video is of no value. With other people i the house , turning the volume up high enough to UNDERSTAND what is said, was not feasible . Hopefully your future videos are done with CC. A wee bit of history about the use of fish skins for their strength properties would enhance the reasoning behind using these materials. I don't quite understand the use of Gorilla Glue without the foaming action when properly used, as that is what is the catalyst. Great use o f natures material for your sheaths. Nothing disrespectful, just an old mans' opinion who has worked with the same products for many a year. Keep on keeping on !!!

I was doing really well until around 2:59 +. You were "... cutting a pinny? in half with...EMS (X?) scissors that...??? brought you" and I cannot either understand a word you said lol, or guess at what you meant between the 'pinny & who(what?)ever brought you those Sorry. Can you help me out,? (From 2:59 - 3:10 just FYI). That Catfish skin sheath is absolutely beautiful, I didn't realise that fish skin could be preserved that way. You had a MUCH easier time getting through that Garskin than John did, he could've done with a pair of those scissors (that look just like the ones the hospital uses to cut plaster casts off your arm 😄) The finished Garskin Sheath is just stunning, do you feel as though it was a bit of a learning curve with the first one? It's certainly going to last for a long time lol.

Wallace Kinifeworks & Homestead Oh, I'm stupid!! I tried all sorts of variations but a Penny? I didn't know that you had those in the US, My mind was stuck on why you'd be trying to cut up an Apron 😄😅 That's what we call Aprons (short for pinafore) in the UK. And Master Sergeant ? I got nowhere near that so Thank you for setting me straight. It's only happened a couple of times that I get stuck on an accent and can't understand the words but I always feel rude when I have to ask. 😆 I bet you could've sold those Cat & Garfish Sheaths 10 times over couldn't you? Did you have to sew it by hand? (I know you said you had to drill holes in it) or did your sewing machine manage with the pre-drilled holes?
