I used this product almost 10 years ago, and followed the directions to the letter. Didn’t walk on for 48 hours and the vehicles stayed outside for 7 full days. After awhile I noticed the product was lifting because of hot tires. Now I need to strip the coating off the floor by sanding then power washing. This time I will hire someone that does this for a living. Just my experience!

@@theewelder That was awhile ago, but the floor was free of oil, dirt, dust and power washed with a degreaser applied before washing. The floor was absolutely dry, temperature was warm 65/75 degrees. The one thing I didn’t do was use muriatic acid as it was not necessary. Thats all I can remember. That is all the details I remember. The directions that were on the product were followed.

It says Rock Solid Floor Paint is Durable, tough coating is 20 times stronger than epoxy. What is the difference between this and Epoxy? Why do people choose Epoxy over floor paint?
@glennhall7934

As someone who does garage floor coatings for a living. I encourage you all to have a go at using this product. It's made me a lot of money over the years getting to do garage floors that have now delaminated and look worse than when the client started. Or alternatively you could save yourself a bunch of time and money and have it done one time by a professional.. the choice is yours.

When I worked in the Lowe's paint department, I used to explain to people that etching is somewhat similar to bleaching your hair. You have to sort of open up the seal so that you can lay something else over it and have it soak in. Additionally, the etching chemical keeps working until you rinse it off and so washing it off is super important just like leaving bleach on your hair too long.

Congratulations on doing your garage floor by yourself, I want to start off on a positive note. However, that big box garage epoxy floor kit will not last, sorry to say but it won't. It will start peeling with in 5 years and you will have to do it all over again. The proper way to do a garage floor like yours.... is first use a grinder to rough up the concrete (etching never works as good) so the epoxy (or better yet Polyaspartic 100% Solids) will adhere to the floor better. Then you fill in the cracks and grind off the excess. After sweeping and blowing off all the dirt & dust, you then put the primer/sealant down, then your base coat of epoxy, then your flakes, and finally the clear coat epoxy/polyaspartic to finish the job. When done right, your floor could last up to 50 years or more, depending on climate. Just a little info, I don't mean to put you or the job you did down. I just wanted to inform. Cheers!

Most folks say this will peel rather quickly (3-5 years), but that polyurea systems are best because they have a longer shelf life (up to 15 years). They cost thousands of dollars more, though.

A paint tray is necessary for walls because you can’t apply paint to a wall by pouring it from the can to the wall. In the case of the floor, no need to deal with the fuss, expense, clean-up and waste of a tray.

The other side I didn’t mix the clear goat with the paint so I put paint and the chips let it dry then I use a roller to add clear coating but the chips were coming off I still went ahead continue .. 3 days have gone by and that clear coat is sticky it hasn’t dry up 😢I got a wet rag to remove it, it made it worse now I have a mixture of clear coat with a lighter tone of grey and chips disappear How can I remove the sticky coating off of it I can still see the bottom paint is still intact it’s just getting the top coat off I use water pressure with a broom and soap 😅 I gave up !!
