Hi Randy, I’ve busted one of those handles before myself. I was watching and was saying to myself you’d better watch out for that tiny keyway just like the one on a 302. Though somehow the way you did this worked after you pulled the axle out again. I would not put that axle in or the sideplate on until and after the rotor is installed. You did not tell your viewers about that little keyway. You should have done that as that is a particularly treacherous part of this reel. I guess to each his own. I am very fond of this model and you did a fine job. Sometimes you can’t get install the axle shaft like you did because that T cross piece is often too large to go through the rotor hole. None of my three reels could have been reassembled the way you did it. I know there are different axle shafts for this reel. Great video Randy. - Chris

I know I should have mentioned that keyway, but I made mistakes in reassembly and was focused on just getting the reel back together. Thank you for watching and calling it to my attention. That will certainly help me make better videos. I am not sure how I did some of that myself. LOL

@@ETXReelserviceandrepair you did fine on the video. I may know something about Mitchell spinning reels but I am absolutely certain I could not do a KZitem video about anything. I think you’re getting better with every video I see. Dennis of 2nd Chance tackle once told me that he wants his viewers to feel like they are looking over his shoulder as he works. He also does a running description of everything he does. I couldn’t do that but you can! I’ve told a few others about your channel. Reel collection and restoring is getting more and more popular. Your channel will grow quickly! - Chris

I would inspect the spool first. Remove it and make sure it's not broken. Next, I would remove the rotor and inspect it for any defects. If you find nothing,re install the rotor making sure the nut is tight, but don't over tighten. Also, while you have apart check the spool shaft making sure it is straight. Check to make sure the key is in place, if out of place or missing could cause your problem. Also, check the anti inertia brake and it's screw. Go www.reelschematic.com and get a schematic, their is no charge.
