Nice update Kris, good to see it isn’t just me using impromptu plant shelters! Some of my small agaves are covered with footstools 😂 Have you thought about leaving the arch out and opening up the view to the Jubaea or do you like the way it frames the view and creates a bit of mystery?

I've been thinking about this for a few days and I'm still in 2 minds. I like the archway and reveal but now also like the Jubaea standing proud on its own with even more daylight.

I think I'd be tempted to give the Jubaea more space and line of slight now, maybe you could recreate the arch further up the garden? @@YorkshireKRIS

@@GeorgesJungleGarden yes I've pretty certain I'll be giving it the space to breathe now. Sometimes change just happens for the best

@ banana's - i also use large cage with insulation. Usually 2-3 ft across. I however use all cut off leaves from banana, ginger, canna and oak tree. Its veey convenient as its available, and works 100% down to rougky -8/-10c. It also voids having to haul straw and deal with grass seed sprouting from it next spring. Try it! Its basically a compost heap around the bananastems. I usually add a big bag over it to keep excess moisture out.

I think I did more damage removing ricinus this year than frost, wind and rain has done to my garden in 12 months! Excellent video again thank you Kris

I have two of them, one in the ground, the other in a pot. The one in the ground is showing no ill effects, so far, after a night of frost, the potted one has become a house plant since that frosty night, it's has 14 new leaves growing despite the reduced sunlight, shorter days and colder weather.

I cut my cannas down but mine are in large pots. I've put them in the greenhouse with fleece over the top. All of my plants are covered or inside now, I'm not as brave keeping them out as long as you. But thanks for showing your garden through out the seasons. It really does help.

It's turned very cold now so I'm sure your plants will appreciate being inside

House should almost guarantee survival. Cold greenhouse it still has a decent chance but depends how cold the winter is

@@YorkshireKRIS thanks so much for the reply, I only have the one and don't want to lose it, I do have some seeds on the way so hopefully will have some back up plants for next year.

They grow well in London and ok with light frosts but wouldn't risk it any lower.
