I like Sweet Million cherry tomatoes and perennial arugula. That cauliflower is beautiful.

Beautiful cauliflower. I live in the States, zone 5b. I struggle to grow it. I have only succeeded one year out of 10. It tends to bolt here--as it warms up far too quickly in Spring and the Fall is too hot. That said, I keep trying because it is such a proud moment when it turns out.

Indeed. We seem to have good cauliflower weather here.

I would have to say the easiest to grow here in zone 4 North Dakota would be summer squashes and tomatoes, kind of boring maybe but the easiest with major harvesting. My new problem this year seems to be something is eating my raspberries at the moment they ripen. It's the bushes 3rd year so their best year so far. It's not the birds as I do have netting on them. From what I've read there are certain types of flies that do this, do you have the same problem in the UK? I guess it's off to the store to fine the American version of your Cali flowerer netting.

@@homegardens7682 Thanks I'll check this out. It's so unusual as they actually remove the little individual seeds from the fruits and eat the flesh off them and leave the seeds. Very neat and precise. I just can't seem to catch them in the act even with daylight lasting till after 10 PM now. I guess I'll be out there with a flashlight next.

Beautiful cauli, I bet that had a lovely flavour. I like the leaves too, surprising as I'm not keen on cabbage, but cauli leaves seem to have a nicer flavour than cabbage (or perhaps I imagine it). My favourite edibles to grow are toms and cues, as I find them easy to grow and reliable croppers. I also grow petunias, as they produce a mass of summer colour and cope well with partial shade. In our garden space is limited so every plant must earn its place.

I am in zone 8 i think up here in York in the UK. I grow every variety of courgette or summer squash I can get my hands on (yes i have a problem lol ) But they are soooo easy and just picking a few different ones makes you feel like you've grown all kinds of different veg. Not only do you get a rainbow of colours and shapes and sizes that look amazing but they all taste amazing as well. I think my number 2 is the Sacamari Ibrido Cucumber. I LOVE Asian food so I love a cucumber that is an all round good variety that I can not only eat fresh without too much bitterness but is a good cooking cucumber for stirfries etc and it has to pickle well and this one does it for me :D :D :D Great video Dan as always hun xox

I recommend growing potatoes. I'm sure some varieties work better than others but like many veg once you have one potato you have potatoes for years to come

Wow, lovely cauli. Mine failed but there are more in now. I have 3 faves really and they are Jerusalem artichoke, Oca and Yacon, They do well without fail, they are easy to grow, give a bit of interest in the winter, and of course you don't have to keep buying them to replant.

@@homegardens7682 Thanks Dan, I've actually taken cuttings off the top of my yakon this year and popped just one in the top of each 30 litre container. It'll be great to see how they do.

Howdy Dan! 👋 I'm excited that it's almost time for us to grow cauliflower. 😃 We grow it in the fall. I grow enough to put in the freezer to eat on through the winter. I make the leaves into a green powder for smoothies and to add to dishes. As for the chard, I grow it year round. It doesn't seem to mind our 100+ temps as long as I keep it watered.👩🏾🌾 I'm in zone 8b, Central Texas. I suggest folks give popcorn and luffa a try. The luffa can be eaten when small, and some fruits left to grow into sponges. Both crops make great gifts!🎁

@homegardens7682 We start getting into the 80s in February. We hit triple digits as early as May on through to the end of August. Fall is our sweet time to grow brassicas.😋
