My mother was sick my whole life, and died when I was barely grown. She couldn't make physical paths for or with us, but the paths she built in our hearts will never fade. Miss Cindy has left her body, but she hasn't left your hearts. It takes what it takes to grieve the loss of a loved one, and it's different with every loss. I appreciate your candor, sharing some of yours with us. They say pain shared is halved, but joy shared is doubled. May your joys outweigh your tears. ❤️🩹

Tipper you never cease to amaze me. Your love of family, of Appalachia, of your garden, just of all of life but especially your love of God. You’re so wise so thanks for sharing that wisdom with us. It just makes my day to watch one of your videos. Your garden is so beautiful - you’ve inspired me to try growing veggies. Flowers are no problem but at 78, veggies are a little more work. So far I’ve planted tomatoes, watermelon, cantaloupe and all kinds of squash and pumpkins for the grandkids, green beans, peas, cucumbers and zucchini. Might be a little late but so far, so good. Now to control the weeds! Have arthritis so when I’m done for the day, I can hardly walk but it’s been worth it. You’re such a beautiful person - from the inside out! Take care and may God continue to richly bless you and your family❣️

Tell Katie to make a memorial garden for Mrs. Cindy, maybe even her Pap . Maybe bring some of her flowers she loved and some outside garden trinkets and a metal bench. That way, Matt and all of you can just step outside and sit and remember the ones you love and miss and reminisce.

I did that too. I have a plant that represents each family member, one is inherited from my nana herself which I love, yarrow. I've made it into my medicinal herbs garden, so physical medicine comes from there. And I made sure everything self-sows so its everlasting.

But they are all still with me and always will be. Lost my only sibling a sister in 2021 I have felt so alone but plant a flower and I remember every time when I see that flower and I have lots of birds many cardinals it warms my heart.

This was everything Tipper. My Daddy has been gone since 1999 and I remember helping him harvest his corn and beans almost every year. What I regret is not listening enough to all of his gardening tips. My parents were divorced when I was 11 and couldn't be more different! My Mama was more "city" and I lived with her. She and I would dance alot, cook and she taught me a lot. My Dad was a country boy and loved to garden, horses and he was a carpenter and could build anything! I wish I could have spent more time with him to learn more about growing food. He called me one evening and was so excited about his corn coming up and wanted me to drive 30 miles to come and feel his corn leaves LOL. I was about 20 then and had little time for corn feeling, Ha Ha. We had a good laugh and I'M m laughing now writing this. I miss my Dad so much, even all these years later. I loved your story about paths, we all need more of those especially now... God bless y'all.

I loved the tour of your garden, thanks for sharing it with us. It’s winter here in Australia and I live in the desert and my veg garden is full of pumpkins, sweet potatoes, chard, cauliflowers, kale and cabbages. But everything is slow this year, last year at this time we were eating the cauliflowers and cabbages, but they are still weeks away this year. My nasturtiums are flowering and the bees are loving them. Gardening is still a bit of mystery to me, and always a learning experience.

Thank you for the tour. After you mentioned lambs quarters a few vids back, Ive been harvesting mine. It's my favorite garden "weed" now. I have been cooking it up every time I weed the garden. My son tried some I cooked with a big pile of purslane, and agreed it was nice. I love nasturtiums, too. I need to get some seeds in the ground soon to enjoy the blooms before fall. I have been saving seeds from a climbing orange/ red variety for a few years now. Yours are lovely. This year I discovered that rutabagas grow well in my area, so I have quite a few of them here there and everywhere. My mom used to cook them, when I was a kid, and hers always tasted bad to me.. She never peeled the bitter layer off before cooking them. I am 63, and it was this year that my big brother cooked them properly for me. Goodness, they are so creamy and sweet boiled till just tender with a bit of butter, salt and pepper. My brother and I remember Mom's yucky rutabaga fondly now. I can't wait to share the harvest with him this fall. Some memories are silly, but cherished anyways. I had to fight the birds for my elderberries last year! I was able to get enough to make a quart of elderberry syrup/tonic.

We can green tomatoes. They are so good in the winter. We would pick tomatoes that were getting to big and was ripe but not real ripe. I would wrap them in News paper and store them on a board, do not stack them, place in a cool place. Unwrap a tomato a day before you want to eat it. We would be eating tomatoes in December.

Someday you will begin to have grandchildren and, in one way or another, you will see all those you have loved and to whom you've said goodbye in those precious lives. It's magical, and like the paths between your homes, you see that beautiful connection between generations. You will be amazed at what a difference it will make in easing the burden of the loss of your parents and grandparents. God bless you all.
