Dal and rice is a everyday meal which is made in every household of India. Here, I have made rice with added flavors of garlic, cumin and other garam masala. Also, dal here is in a simplest and most delicious form which would brighten any meal. Please enjoy these simple yet delicious recipes.
Dal Fry Recipe :
Ingredients :
1 Cup Yellow Moong Dal
1/2 Cup Chana Dal
1/2 Cup Toor Dal
8 Cups Water
Salt To Taste
1/2 Tsp + 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1/4 Tsp + 1/4 Turmeric
2 Tomatoes Chopped
1 Medium Onion Chopped
1 Cup Bell Peppers Chopped
1 Jalapeno
1" Ginger Paste
1 Tsp Coriander Stems
1/2 Tbsp Ghee
1/2 Tbsp Jeera
1 Tbsp Garlic
1/4 Tsp Asafoetida
Red Chili Powder To Taste
1 Tbsp Coriander Cumin Powder
1/4 Tsp Homemade Garam Masala
1/4 Cup Lemon Juice
Method of Making Dal Fry :
1. Combine all dals and wash 3 times.
2. Soak in plenty of water for 1 hour.
3. Add 8 cups water, 1/2 tsp olive oil, 1/4 tsp turmeric and bring to boil.
4. Cover and cook on low heat until dal is well cooked.
5. Add 2 tbsp oil, tbsp ghee and jeera in a pan.
6. Add garlic, onion and saute 2 minutes.
7. Add peppers,jalapeno, ginger and saute 3 minutes.
8. Add asafoetida, turmeric, chili powder, coriander cumin powder, garam masala and mix well.
9. Add tomatoes, coriander stems and cook 3 minutes.
10. Add the prepared tadka in the dal and mix well.
11. Add lemon juice, cover and boil 15 minutes.
Delicious dal is ready to serve.
Garlic Jeera Rice Recipe :
Ingredients :
2 Cups Basmati Rice
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1/2 Tbsp Cumin Seeds
1/4 Tbsp Caraway Seed
1/4 Cup Garlic
2 Bay Leaves
4 Cloves
1 Cinnamon
1 Black Cardamom
3 Cups Water
Salt To Taste
1 Tbsp Coriander Leaves
Method of Making Garlic Jeera Rice :
1. Wash rice 3 times and soak in plenty of water for 30 minutes.
2. In a large pan add oil, cumin, caraway seeds, garlic and saute 1 minute.
3. Add bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, water, coriander leaves and salt to taste.
4. Bring to full boil and add drained rice.
5. Stir and boil until little water is left.
6. Lower the heat and cook 8 minutes.
7. Stir rice and turn off the heat.
8. Cover and keep for 15 minutes, fluff the rice and serve.
