There's nothing worse watching a video that flashes past things without going into some kind of understanding detail... was a really run video to make, and the beginning was a rush, as the next week was forecasted with lots of rain, so hit the dusk side just in time.... those horses were very naughty too, but made some nice footage at the end.... the car part was more curiosity to how it could work. So pleased you enjoyed and found it useful... really good piece of kit hey, and with time you'll soon be very native with it :) Have a nice weekend my friend and cheers again :))

@@samfletcher93 Just to add, when you stop the GPS it comes up with a few options, and the Back To Start has two sides... either Track Back which will follow your original route, or there's one called Route, now this one is clever, as if you don't want to follow the exact route back, this takes you the quickest way back, and will include roads if needed :)) Loads to learn, but trying out things yourself really makes that side enjoyable :) Cheers!

One question you may be able to answer... When you have stored a track me route, can you use it to re navigate later? So say I go for a hike and I'm just exploring and tracking and think wow this route is fantastic, can I use that saved route to renavigate it in the future? Sometimes we stumble across areas that we are never able to find again at a later date and if the saved route can be used again later that would be great.

@rejjie_DIY
2 жыл бұрын
By the way, good video WatchUP69. This is the response from Garmin. Makes sense to me... "I have confirmed with my team that the device is not routing via roads when using it for automotive purposes due to safety reasons. Most of the time, it is unsafe to use a watch to navigate while driving, so this routing option isn't built into the watch by default. This option is possibly available though if a city navigator map was purchased, however this is still not something that we recommend doing and instead recommend using an automotive device for car navigation. For other types of activities such as cycling and walking/running, the device will work just fine but as you mentioned on the chat, it may not take roads and instead take paths that cars are not able to access. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this information. ". Try turning on Avoidance setting for non paved roads. That might help.

Very detailed and a lot of work, thanks! One thing I've struggled with is the silver directional arrows that intermittently appear when following a course. I cycle and plan courses in garmin and follow them using my watch. The problem is when you are doing loops of an area and come to a junction multiple times. The first time you might go straight and then next time right. However you only see a purple line going straight and right and you don't know which way to go the first time you get to a junction. I often wait for the off-course notification and go back on myself. Not ideal. Sometimes, silver directional arrows appear on the route and if you're lucky it will be on one of the purple lines ahead of a junction so you know which road to take. However sometimes they don't appear when you need them (they are rare!) and sometimes they never appear at all for some courses. Any idea?

Mine has some scuffs and chips but not broken... you can get silicon bumpers for them sold on Amazon, think my Amazon shop displays them.. but you can get a packet from Aliexpress for peanuts if you're ok to wait. Now I did a review of an aftermarket metal bezel that sits over the original, just don't bother, it bulks it up and is only stuck on with 3M tape. How to replace the original bezel is most likely from Garmin, which might mean an expensive decision if you do. The bezel looks like it's held on with the screws on top, but not sure if that's part of the crystal too??? Metal bezels do get the abuse, but it's made to be more robust than looking nice all the time. If I hear of anything, I'll let you know my friend :) Cheers!

Two different styles with backtrack... if you need details with regards to breadcrumbs, then Fenix... the GPR-B1000 is bearing compass with a map that works better over longer distances, but just gives an idea between waypoints or point memos. The Fenix will show your location with a colour map, and thus can show different paths, so can deviate on backtrack but still keeping an eye exactly where you are... you can also make the backtrack exactly to what you travelled, or use a direct routing that plans the quickest way back, and this can be on roads or paths :)

Cheers for your feedback my friend ;) I've not done any imports of routes as I plane mine from new, but I have used routes taken from Komoot so am guessing these route files need to be stored and accessed via an app? If a route is saved to your device, can this be picked up in Garmin Explore? I don't think Garmin Connect works using this side, this is more about activities and the general upkeep of the watch. Just trying to think of who would know the answer on KZitem... DC rainmaker goes more into the fitness side, but he does get the hits more than me, so maybe one of his viewers would know. Just found a KZitemr called H58 Fitness that has done some of what you're asking, so worth having a browse on his page, and I'm sure he can answer your questions too. Sorry I can't be more helpful, as I don't use it to the fullest. Kommot is a great app, and it's free to download and try a local map to see how it runs. I like the already planned routes that share, as they often take pictures of the route, plus the information is very detailed including the terrain used over the route. I've tried the GPX files, but not what you're asking about, but it could be the same? Hope that helps my friend and cheers for the feedback again ;)

Hi rangeman do you know how to remove the white arrow from the map when doing a course?

Hey buddy, let me help :) The white arrow is used as a bearing to your next waypoint/turn/goal and this runs when you're in Navigation... but if you're using Track Me then the map will show either where you are, and depending if you have the setting turned on, draw your route with a colour choice. There isn't a option to turn off the bearing arrow while in Navigation, as that's the main point of having an arrow. Hope that helps, unless I misunderstood you? Cheers

Hello, does anybody know how to have next turn information below the map? The only thing I can seem to get there is distance to end of the course. Thanks

Hey buddy... Well I have just replied to a viewer yesterday with a very similar question, and maybe it works for your too... 1. From home screen press GPS/Start button 2. Highlight the Navigation name you want to use from the list (Eg. MTB) then press button GPS/Start 3. One of the Data screens will be shown with 'Options' at the top 4. Long press on the MENU/UP button 5. Make sure you highlight the correct one, scroll down or up and highlight 'Navigation Settings' (there is another that looks the same, but is Navigate Settings) press button GPS/Start to open 6. Make sure Heading Bug is 'ON' while scrolling down on the list and highlight 'Alerts' 7. Scroll down or up on the list and highlight 'Turn Prompts' and from here using button GPS/Start you can turn this 'ON' or 'OFF' select 'ON' I think this is the setting you are looking for with turn by turn on display 8. Going back one using button 'BACK' when you see 'Data Screens' highlight this and press button GPS/Start 9. Scroll down or up on the list and check if 'Guide' is turned 'ON' this helps also Hope that helps you my friend :)
