I was lucky enough to get a Fenix 6x pro...absolutel machine and I was such a novice to my 38km skyrun but usability and navigation on this watch made it very simple ! You can spend so much time customizing it to your own specs and you will have data for days ...I want to train smarter with this watch as I know there are still functions I can use to make it more beneficial to me..great video Sean really enjoyed your take on this watch ! ⌚

Cheers David. You for sure can there are still lots of features that I’m not using to their full potential. It’s nice to know the watch will last the distance and be more than enough for any races in future. 👍

Awesome stuff, they are solid no idea why my one didn’t work that time but may have been a once off. It’s going to be interesting as distance has taken a back seat for the last few months but hopefully it happens 👌super keen on doing it!

Jon Sky Surfer haha no worries, it’s a smaller channel just started to document my trail running / fitness stuff. The watch has an altimeter, barometer and compass (under widgets) you can upload gpx files to it or create your own routes for navigation on the app/pc. You can navigate via points of interest, back to the start, round trips or courses you create. The waypoints on the watch are called saved locations by Garmin. It sounds like it should be a good choice for you for sure. If you have any other questions want to see anything specific re the watch just shout. Cheers for the message! Have a good evening.

It it worth selling my Garmin Fenix 5X as I want Spotify while I'm running, without having to carry my iphone?

Asish Pun I personally always have my phone when on the mountains and trail running just for safety. I find my phone is better for audio books and podcasts while out but Spotify on the Garmin works well without the phone. You have to load songs/playlists to it and then it’s totally usable for sure. It’s a hard one as it depends how much you’re willing to pay for that feature. Perhaps look at the other features too and see how many you regard as upgrades from your 5x.

Hey Sean. Also a South African. I work on a yacht and want to know if these watches show your gps position at sea?
@seangreyvenstein6819

Stefan Koen Hey Stefan, I’ve done swims with it and the GPS works with GPS and Glonass systems that have worked. The data’s varies with swims due to the watch being under the water mostly but on a boat I can’t see why it wouldn’t work. If you have GPS signal where you go sea / land it will work.

@@seangreyvenstein6819 Thanks! So the GPS doesn't rely on a wifi connection just to be sure?

@@stefankoen no it doesnt. gps compass barometer need no internet or phone connection.

The GPS on your watch won’t need a cellular or internet connection to track your route. Only when you want to upload your data to Garmin servers and sync with phone will you need a connection.

Also is Gorilla glass stronger than Sapphire. All I know is that sapphire is scratch proof.

Stefan Koen i cant comment on gorilla glass as I’ve opted for the sapphire version on this 6x and on my previous 5. Online reviews suggest gorilla glass may do more against drops and sapphire scratches. I do earthworks and construction along with other jobs and the sapphire has been perfect. 👍

Thanks for your review, Its hard to know what to go for... the 6x sapphire has an ar coating on top of the sapphire that can easily scratch.... sort of defeats the purpose of the sapphire underneath!! The 6x pro version has mostly blue screens with the back light problem. The solor has Gorrila glass which can scratch, so you put a screen protector on and interfere with the solor... also I wear sleeves lol... Why did they put a ar coating on the sapphire that scratches on the 6?!, I'd rather have the glare that a scratched coating lol... I'm sticking with my 5xplus for now unfortunately until I do further research.

Sam The hiking man hectic I didn’t even know it had a coating over the top, really doesn’t make too much sense as you say. Talking from my personal experience having the sapphire 5 and now 6 neither of them has ever had a scratch. That’s from a good couple years of sport and working with tools in the garage and so on. I feel the battery of the normal versions lasts long enough for my use so that made my decision against the solar version. If I was planning on long multi day through hikes then I would have probably gone with it. Tie it to your bag for a couple k’s while hiking in the sun. Appreciate the comment and I don’t see any major reasons to upgrade if you’re happy with the 5 unless you specifically really need a feature that’s only available on the 6. Cheers

@@seangreyvenstein6819 Sorry I don't know precisely if it has the ar coating on the outside, there's a debate about it over at the forums after someone scratched their 6x crystal.. If threw a spanner in the works for my decision, but I'm going for the sapphire anyway, I am upgrading,I think the sapphire is the best choice. I'd love the bigger screen, it's makes so much difference when comparing the 5x plus to the 6x plus to my 50 year old eyes lol... The screen is the real reason for me to upgrade. I've owned my 5x plus sapphire for a while, I've scratched the bezel, but the sapphire is still flawless like in your experience. Thanks again, All the best.. 👍 Subscribed... : -)
