Hi GFEJ. Nice video. Either your am/pm point at 9:17 is a little overstated or else advertising on the box is wrong. Notice that as your video fades to the Final photo of the box, then the box shows an arrival time of 12:18 pm! So my guess is that Garmin just forgot (or chose?) not to put the am/pm in the "Choose Data Field" list. Yes, that's also a mistake / poor choice, since it is confusing to users when choosing their setting. My guess is that it does, in fact, show the am/pm (as on the box) when navigating though. I'll know for sure when I get my unit soon.

Hey Carl. Good morning. I am going to go through mine again and look to enable am/pm display. Maybe I need to update my unit. I will try that too. There are a few nice features that I have discovered while mine - advance notice of railroad crossings, steep grades, and a few others. Maybe a quick update is in order. Garmin should have a FEEDBACK/SUGGESTION page etc. I would like the ability to PAUSE ROUTE, reduce the number of PROMPTS etc. I still think the time should show BOTH - Arrival time at Destination (with AM/PM) and - TIME REMAINING - (or select this second info set). Let me know if your unit shows the AM/PM - and how to find it. :)

@@EarlAndJill I just watched your video again. You were right, and my guess above (that this mistake was only in the settings) is wrong, at least for the software version you had. Hmm, let me see if I can spot this bad version number... No, I could spot that version number in your video. Could you check it and post it here? I will report this to Garmin for us both, since I want this bug fixed too. BTW, my DriveSmart 86 just arrived. I plan to set it up this weekend, so that's why I keep watching your good video. Yeah, it is still the best I've seen, since you deal with a few issues like a dead battery and help from Garmin on how that will work with charging and brightness limits. I'm guessing that is rare (I will check mine tonight), but it should still get a short paragraph in the paper setup guide, but I didn't see a thing there when I skimmed it this morning. Thanks again.

One work-around here appears to be setting your Garmin to use 24-hour time. I haven't tried this yet, but I just heard about that option. The 860 seems great BTW. I have used Alexa or the camera accessory yet, but everything else works great.

LOL ... Carl, as ex-military I "LIKE" 24 hour time ...and agree. However, my civilian family members ... not so MUCH ! :) I don't use Alexa but I do like the camera and recording ... but turn off the lane departure etc. It drives me bonkers.

I returned my Garmin Drive Smart 76. It has so many annoying features. For example it "goes to sleep" quite often and it is a nuisance to switch off the Device and switch on again, especially while driving down a motorway. Main concern it does not mount on my laptop. Yes, I read the manual and I even telephoned Garmin. No joy there. Another annoying feature is the need to connect to a smart phone. My old Garmin uploaded traffic news without a smart phone. The smart phone should have the Garmin App loaded and working. Sadly the App devours battery life. Imagine on a long journey. Not all vehicles have two or more cigarette lighters! The nice feature is that you can upload the latest maps and system updates. But you must subscribe to "speed cameras" and "red lights". Why? That's why I returned my Drive Smart 76 and played around with my old Garmin and managed to factory reset without losing my hundreds of POIs.

Betsy - I have to agree with you on many points. Wish a few of us could sit down with Garmin and explain WHAT we WANT. My "NEW" Garmin for the truck - has eliminated some of the annoyances - It let's me asks a complete sentence for example - but - I still can not PAUSE route. I HATE the phone interface - if my vehicle has bluetooth - I am FORCED to use EITHER GARMIN or the TRUCK. Ugh. But - the saving grace of the RV garmin - is letting me know low tunnels - bridges - etc. But - as some have pointed out - there's an APP for that too! PC Connectivity - absolutely is HORRID on 2 of my garmins - but this one - and the truck - they work seamlessly. WHY? We took the truck Garmin to Italy and Germany this year - worked flawlessly. I apprecate your comments - hope they help someone else make a decision.

Love mine. Have you figured out a different mount for it - similar to a friction mount that just stays on dashboard with friction ?

Hey Charles, funny you asked. Not trying to figure out for this one ... (I use it for travelling) ... but tyring to figure the RV out. We travel to CA somewhat - and they don't allow windshield mounts. I hate the suction cups - either dash or windshield. Sooner or later ... they get worn - dirty. Not to mention - the crashing down - of your unit ... gets aggravating. My buddy and I are thinking of 3D printing something - just for the RV. - - Have you checked out the 1Zero Garmin GPS Dash mount - - It has optional 3M tape (I don't like tape either) ... Good luck. Let me know if you find something recommendable.
