Good video. What would be the best way to save a location while an activity is running?

Nice! You showed the different icons, but you did'nt show how to give the waypoint a name.

Hi Hiker Ringeling, thank you for taking the time to leave a comment and support the channel. You are very right that I did not, and probably should have. I show this process in another video since it can be a little lengthy, please see that one here - kzitem.info/news/bejne/0omj0oCcrYSdp6w I would be honored with your subscription if you haven't already. I hope that helps and you have a great day!

What’s the difference between project waypoint and sight n go?
@CoastieOutdoors

Hi Kenneth, great question! There is a slight difference, and they can be used interchangeably in many situations. Essentially the difference is that a waypoint can be saved for future use, whereas a sight n go is used in the moment. Once a waypoint is established and saved in the watch memory, you essentially use it as a repeatable sight n go location. Does that make sense? Thank you for your support of the channel and I hope you have a great day!

Project waypoint actually saves a coordinate, which is a fixed position on earth/map. While sight n go locks just the compass angle, which is the direction you want to go.

what's the difference between this and save location. to projector proper Waypoint need a rangefinder. At that point you're carrying too much crap in your bag. just walk there and save the location. easy

Hi Will, you make a great point! Also, thank you for taking time to leave a thoughtful comment and supporting the channel. I'd be honored with our subscription if you haven't already. I really appreciate your attention to detail, and agree that a proper waypoint should be as accurate as possible. The project waypoint would therefore be a "guesstimate" as to how far the point is away. You would have to make a judgement call if that is good enough in the field or not. You are absolutely correct though, especially if you are mapping out your local area and have the time to get to each point for an accurate save. Thanks again, and I hope you have a great day!

@@WilliamEllison what a jerk. What if you want to come back to it later or even another day like a landmark and you're doing something else. There are a million reasons to use this and if you don't wanna subscribe just don't. Don't need to post that you aren't, ass. Do us all a favor and go take a long complicated hike and don't use it.

The idea of the whole thing is that perhaps you, at a certain moment, see something you need to get to (maybe a house, a mountain, a vehicle). In front of you there is maybe vegetation that once you start moving will block that object from viewing. If you are able to mark the approximate location of the object, your GPS unit will guide you to the object even if you can’t see it. Of course it depends on how good you are at estimating distances (or you could use the trigonometric rule of thumb to better calculate that distance). The most important component of the equation is however the bearing.
