I know right? I looking to upgrade from an Apple Watch as it has awful battery life and honestly very few features. But with Garmin there’s so many watches with so many features. So far from what I understand the venu 3 is very good at doing a lot of Garmins features. Like tracking stuff like running, cycling, and sleep tracking. And it also has golf stuff as well like stat tracking. I think this is the one I’m getting seems to be packed with features well not being as expensive as other Garmin models.

Garmin is at a point where they need to simplify their product line. 2-3 generations ago there were clear differences between feature sets. At this point, all of these watches do more than 99% of what most users need. The difference between this and an epix or fenix is pretty marginal.
@BobbyWoody429

I like that garmin finally went oled. They can tune the screens with the tech and battery life to still give an impressive fitness watch. I always said Garmin is almost perfect as a fitness watch brand. They’ve needed those smartwatch features to stay somewhat close to the modern tech but they’ve still retained what makes Garmin….Garmin

There´s quite a bit of difference between product lines i think. All of them do fitness and wellness, but there are exclusive features: Venu: smartwatch features, calling and voice assistant Instinct: Super durable, super battery life Fenix/Epix: offline maps, flagship material quality
@indonesiaamerica7050
11 ай бұрын
How is that a bad thing? The Epix and Fenix have always been known as "no compromise" in function and ruggedness. The Venu line is more like an activity watch that has had all of the topline features integrated. Including a great display. So it can be used for almost all of the same activities as the Fenix but it's lighter and cheaper. And it does a lot more than the lower echelon activity watches and you pay a mid level price because of that. And actually there has been convergence because there are no longer any distinctions between running and cycling watches. Your complaint is centered on the fact that all of the mid and high level watches can do just about anything and your choices boil down to details like display type and size, what kind of case you want and so forth. The question is what are you losing out on because of these changes?

(Reposted from similar comment) If you're serious at all with running/cycling/hiking/etc., then the Forerunner is the way to go. I loved my Venu and Venu 2 in general, but just switched to the Forerunner (965) because I've been doing marathon, ultra marathon, and cycling events, and the Venu series doesn't give you the helpful training metrics like Training Readiness (acute/chronic load stats, recovery time, current readiness, etc.), aerobic/anaerobic metrics, and additional activities (no individual types of cycling or running like road/gravel/mountain biking or road/trail running) that the Forerunners have. Otherwise if you just like to enjoy general outdoor activities and aren't training for or doing events, then the Venu series is prolly more appropriate for you.

Definitely the venu 3 since the 265 doesn’t have maps and the updated health metrics on the venu 3 is now a lot better with the extra information it provides. Hey John! It doesn't have training load metrics like are found on the 265. Having a power meter is required to get a cycling VO2 max estimate but the Venu 3 does not calculate it, even though it can pair to those sensors. @abhineeet
Жыл бұрын
@@_baumi_ Biggest use case is hiking and biking. If I take a 1 hour min break at the summit of an out-and-back hike, I don't want Garmin to auto-save. Moreover, if the activity is paused or auto-paused. The GPS is still on and it's still eating battery. Same in case of biking, I recently participated in a 100km bike race, there were three rest stops where I stopped, and at one of them I had to stop for a bit longer for fixing something on the bike. Resume-later in these cases saves me battery and saves me from the imminent-autosave. I don't want multiple activities from a single hike or bike ride just because I took a pause. In case of running not so relevant at least for my use-case.

You forgot to include the fact that FR265 supports multi-band GPS while Venu 3 does not.

Good review. I don't get though how the Venu 3 is different enough from the Forerunner 265. And both are rather bad value compared to the Pace 3. I enjoy the Garmin ecosystem, it has many motivatiors. But I also feel like they increased their prices sharply over the past 12 months. Not gonna spend close to 500 Euro for a watch when the Pace 3 is HALF of that. I even prefer MIP screens to OLED (currently on an oled watch).

Agree with mip over OLED but dont forget that Garmin Has payment and calling features.Only wear os watches give you that possibility but with battery life les than 5 days(ticwatch 5 pro)

Great Review Des, thank you! If I only care about health metrics and my main activity is weight lifting (and just little cardio), which one would you choose, Venu 3 or 265?
@DesFit

The Venu 3 may work better for you for weight training as the Venu 3 has a slightly more accurate HR sensor for that kind of activity. Thanks!

@@DesFit Thanks for your reply. Just watched the comparison to 265 and I am confused about Body Battery vs Training Readiness. Which would be the more relevant metric for weight training? Still not sure if I should take the Venu 3 with its better HR Sensor, as it lacks of Training Readiness (which seems to be a relevant metric for weight training?).

Could you recieve indications of Google maps on your Venu 3 if you are using it on your Phone?

Is it fair to say that the Venu 3 is a better pick over the 265 for someone that does an equal mix of HIIT sprinting/weight lifting/cycling/walks ? It seems like its more of an all-rounder versus the 265 which is very running centric. The 5th gen HR monitor looks like a big upgrade for accurately tracking HR for HIIT hill sprints and weight lifting.

If the V5 sensor has the features you want I would stick with that choice.

You showed how the voice assistant works when iPhone is unlocked. But the only use case of using the voice assistant is to use it when the iPhone is in the pocket for example. Hence the main question is how voice assistant would behave when phone is locked and in the pocket. Also I noticed that you haven't mentioned that sometimes users experience lag in VA work. Is this review just an advertisement of the product or real review?

The price is crazy, considering the newly released Amazfit Balance which beats this watch in every spec on paper and is at half the price.

Shame it first appeared to have a rotating bezel, but I turns out it's not. I've been using a Samsung Gear S3 for about 5 years now and I love my rotating bezel.

Thank you for the overview ~ just got a Venu 3S. I cannot locate how to add Distance to my Indoor Cycling workout, where would I add that on the watch or on my Garmin Connect phone app? Much Appreciated!

Does the nap also have a score and is added to sleep score at the end of the day?
@DesFit

The nap has a body battery impact number but that’s different than the sleep score which is purely based on sleep through the night.

I am having a hardest time to choose between Venu3 vs Fenix 7. I love Venu3 with design but it doesn't have a map but Fenix7 is durable but not a best fit for dress up purpose...

Hi Des, is the glass completely flat or does it have a slight bulge? Like the FR265, I’m concerned with not being able to properly apply a screen protector.

Yes, via the lock device function in the controls menu (same as Venu 2 Plus and many other Garmin watches). Will need to re-enable it though to save your activity.
